Ours looks worse

I KNOW we need some sort of storage solution, I just don't know what that is.

This isn't much help but I have a nice basket setting next to mine and I do not leave my computer desk without taking all papers and putting them in there. It doesn't really organize it but at least the desk looks good and then I can pull the papers back out the next time I sit at the desk.

what are the papers? bills? junk? schoolwork? Do they have another home and no one puts them there? I have a little rolling file cabinet from IKEA that holds files near my desk. Maybe try something like that.

I would say, get rid of it, and find the smallest possible computer desk that will just hold the computer and nothing else.

I know this is radical, but we have had success in getting rid of desks and downsizing desks. The paperwork that used to be desk clutter has to be filed immediately now because there is nowhere else to put it!

ETA if we do need to spread paperwork out, I use the kitchen table or the floor because that HAS to get cleaned up -- can't just leave it out.

Thanks!

The papers are bills,a couple catalogs, some coupons, kid art....
As I'm sitting here I'm realizing if I could find a new home for the basket that is next to the table already I might be able to fit the filing "basket"that I have.

I feel like the stuff hanging on the wall works but looks pretty junky.Any ideas for that stuff?I suppose if I move the filling basket over I could get rid of 2 of those little holders.I don't really have an idea for the pens and the current bills though.

Ok I guess I should get off my butt and start moving stuff. Here I go...

Well, not quite ready to get rid of the table(I love it and it was my grandpas)and I really can't buy anything. But thank you for the suggestion. It sounds like a good one!And if a smaller table comes my way I will give it a second thought.

What about an armoire? We have one and love it. It has quite a bit of storage so everything has a spot and it's easy to keep clean. We found ours cheap off of Craigslist.

We have one too. I like it because when it's a mess (which is often) we can just close the doors and hide the mess.

Same here. I have a landslide every other day, I kid you not. But I simply can't muster up the energy to do something about it. So I type on MDC instead.

Ok,here it is so far.(my daughter has decided that the filing basket is her office)I like it much better without those holders on the wall but I still don't know what to do with the current bills. The papers on the table are scratch paper but I think I'll cut it down to just one pad at a time.

Thanks for all your replies! They really motivated me to get going. Now to find a place for the basket that was replaced...

I wish my desk was as messy as that... this is what mine ends up looking like no matter how often I clear it off. It's not for lack of storage compartments that's for sure !

I went looking for ya and got stuck on another fantastic blog
I'm back though and noticed that organized desks seem to have the same color scheme

http://www.flickr.com/photos/96221617@N00/152061137/

Here there are shelves..if you take your mirror down and put a shelf above your desk you can get the same idea

http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDtOD1...li/3033979832/

This site had nestle cocoa box recycled into a gift box but it would make decorative organizer
http://leslierich.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/page/2/

If someone were to do away with a desk they d probably need a shelf to put stuff on like this..her laptop sits on a T.V. tray type table

http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0S0204UEl...onn/224470588/

Or empty out a closet and put shelves in it

If you use bins underneath your table- it still looks clutter y but you could skirt the table with some velcro and fabric
