ne per day for the month of January.

Spend no more than 15 minutes . At the end of the month you have tidied 30 shelves/drawers :

Pull everything out of a drawer (or shelf) anywhere in your house. Just take the drawer out and empty it on a table. Then sort the drawer into three piles: 1) stuff that really should go in the drawer; 2) stuff that belongs elsewhere; 3) stuff to get rid of. Clean the drawer out nice, then put the stuff in the first pile back neatly and orderly. Deal with the other piles immediately!

This is a great idea! Something manageable and not overwhelming. I get paralyzed by the myriad of things I "need" to do! This will focus my "nesting" in my last month of pregnancy.

I did my spice cabinet today too! It turned into doing four cabinets, as they all interconnect, but it was awesome! Forgot the before and after pics though...oops!

This sounds great!

I am just seeing this tonight and we weren't home today, so nothing got done today. However, I did this with an entire office cabinet yesterday, which took me a few HOURS. I took pictures that I will post later. I also emptied my desk drawer yesterday. I sorted, too, and put some of the stuff away. There is more to do with that drawer, so that'd be a good place to start tomorrow.

Here is a link to pictures of the closet challenge and purge challenge results:

I forgot to take pictures, but we also did the games & puzzles cabinets in the entertainment center yesterday. That is 4 more shelves.

I kinda doubt I will just do "ONE" shelf or drawer or small space each day, but I will attempt to average it out to be at least one a day. Certain areas lend themselves to being done in groups, ya know. I wouldn't have been very effective at doing the games & puzzles area (4 shelves) if I had done only one start to finish each day for four days. The overall point of keeping it manageable and doable in 15 or so minutes is a good reminder message. Thanks!

I forgot to post that I also organized my photos on the laptop. I HATE decluttering/organizing files on the computer, so this was a big one for me.

I'm definitely in! I may run out of drawers and shelves in need of decluttering, but there are always little areas that need to be cleaned out. Sounds fun! Off to find once-wonderments to purge!

I am halfway through cleaning off a shelf in my fridge. That counts, right? I forgot to do it yesterday, so I'm also going to go through a drawer in a dresser that is so full it's driving me crazy.

You won't run out -- if you go through your whole house and see every shelf and drawer as one per day -- I would bet you have at least 75 ... if not more.

I have been doing this for years and it saves the need to do a big huge spring cleaning.

For me -- I do a shelf in my fridge on Mondays and another on Tuesdays because Wednesday is Garbage Day! .. so that takes up 2 to of my 7 days.

ITs always good to just quickly empty out a shelf and wipe it down and put everything back. Its so easy running a household to quickly forget what you have. It also helps with shopping lists.

I read so often here about moms spending a lot of time purging kids clothes / toys as they outgrow them ... but if you are always cleaning out a drawer or shelf -- this will be automatic.

Have fun :

Ok I don't think I have enough shelves or drawers that I already haven't decluttered but I'm in. Today I decluttered our kitchen utensil drawer, it feels like I just recently did this but there was still some items that needed to go.

I'm in! I don't have internet access at home (Verizon sucks), so I can't check in with this thread often. I've been doing this in the past few days. I have my entire "pantry" organized. I purged my books and put the keepers in our bookcase (which has been empty the past three months). I also cleared off and organized my kitchen counter. Next stop: junk drawer in the kitchen. It's very scary in there.

So far, so good. I've got 2 drawers done in the kitchen since starting. I'm trying to follow the flylady plan and since next week is the kitchen zone, I decided to start there. And I started on the third, I decided to not "try to catch up", but start where I was.
