... the Y takes toy donations? The thing is, I have a lot of toys that have sentimental attachments with them, because my mother bought them for the kids, and she had this big long sob fest about how because we live far away it's the only way she can contribute to their lives, to know that they're playing with stuff she bought... yada yada.

I'm a SAHM but a few times a week I go the Y and DS goes to the child watch area while I work out. He *loves* it there. I was thinking if I could donate some of these bulky plastic toys to the Y then he could play with them (in theory) but they wouldn't be in our house and other kids could get more use out of them too. They do require batteries so I'm not sure if the Y would even take them, but...

Does this sound like a good idea? Has anyone done this before?

Sounds like a great idea! I would just ask if they took toys and bring them on in.

Someplace else to donate toys, hopefully your child will NEVER play with them there, but a Children's hospital is always in need of toys.
