I'm open to a "whatever room you want" challenge again this month (mainly because I still have some rooms left over from previous months)...

Me too. I think mine needs to be the craft/paperwork/junk room. I've just finished the childrens' 'bedroom' (no bed, but children's clothes are in there).

I've got to work on my kitchen. It's an eat-in (no dining room) and we have very limited cupboard space, and it's gotten bad. :

I would love to do the kitchen. I need to reorganize, clean and fix storage in there.

I'm going to divide the room into four, one for each weekend in April.

Removing extra junk/ organising bookshelfs
Papers
Craft projects
Prettifying

What I predict will actually happen is that all the 'extra junk' from the craft room will get brought into the kitchen and form a pile on the island, and I'll collect all the papers from elsewhere in the house to make a bigger pile on the filing cabinet. I'll then get caught up in trying to finish some half done craft as I'm putting it neatly in a box, and while I'm doing that I'll be inspired for something I have to run to Michaels and get supplies for and those things will be dumped on the floor upstairs when my baby wakes up and then it will be May.

I'm not sure exactly what to do with my kitchen . . . I know I need to clean out the cabinets under the sink. There's tons of crap down there I never use, like the old nonstick pans my mom gave me when I moved out. And I'm looking at baker's racks online, so I can get rid of the microwave cart and have some more room for food storage. Oh, and there's applesauce splattered on the ceiling. I should probably do something about that, eh?

I don't think I've ever done a room challenge before, but I think it's time. Doesn't matter what room to me, they all need work!

I've never done a room challenge either, but my vote (in terms of necessity on this end!) would be for the kitchen!!!

Regardless, I'm subbing and hopefully things will improve mood-wise around here, I'll magically find the motivation, and voila! Presto-change-o, I'll have a sparkly kitchen!

I am well underway! I went in there, got inspired, went to Hancock fabrics and got halfway through the project. That's one off my list of things to do.

I cleared out the overflowing microwave cart this afternoon. Next I'm clearing off the top of the fridge, and after the kids are in bed I'm working on the cabinets. And, er, the applesauce on the ceiling.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the chairs . . . two years ago my dad bought us a table and chairs, and the seats are RUINED. The seats are white cloth with a lace-type fabric (WHAT was my dad thinking?!), and the kids have gotten every food imaginable on them. It looks disgusting. The stains are there to stay. I'm thinking about getting a wipe-clean vinyl tablecloth in a pretty pattern, cutting it into squares, and trying to staple the squares over the existing fabric . . . not sure whether it will work though.

Most chairs have removable seats so you can do just that, google upholstering DIY or something. My mom and grandma did it multiple times.

Thanks, I'll check that out!

Fridge, under-sink cabinets and top of the cupboards are done! I got the applesauce off the light fixture, but the spots on the ceiling tiles won't come off. Oh well, I tried.

How's everyone else coming along?

I'll do DD's room. All I need to do is sew a new duvet, find a desk and hang 2 prints. How hard could that be? ()

Today we: washed the walls and the outside of the cabinets, cleaned the cabinet under the sink, moved the stove and cleaned behind it and washed the outside of the appliances.

DH also took the boxes of storage that had been sitting there out to the garage, so yay!

I'm joining in but I'm using this month to wrap up loose ends! I want to be completely done so that in the summer time I can just pick up and go with the kids. I'm hoping to be able to post my pictures in the clean clear thread.(I feel like I've been trying to do this forever!) So here's what I hope to accomplish...

1. Strip and paint Ds's dresser and paint Dd's dresser.
2. finish lining kitchen cabinets with oilcloth liner.
3. re organize living room book shelves.
4. finish painting ceilings in Dd's room and living room/dining
5. decide a layout for pictures and hang them.
6. find guitar hangers to hang dh's guitars in our bedroom.

Thats all I can think of for now but I will probably add more!

3.5 hours - 2 large fabric stores, 2 regular stores and what do I find? NOTHING. Seriously?

My house is never ever ever ever ever going to be done. Ever.

I PM'ed the mods of decluttering to see if we could get this one stickied....

Looks like folks are doing choose your own adventure!!! whatever room you want

so far I think, any others doing a different room?
loose ends
kitchen
DD's room
craft room

I think I am going to do kitchen too. It's actually pretty good but does need some work. The msot work will be to get my upper cabinets that has food in them more organized. The lower cabinets with dishes, pots pans things like that is pretty uncluttered. I would love love love to get a hood for the stove, I wonder if I can squeeze that out of the budget for the month and have hubby to install it? Oh and the fridge... forgot about that one, it needs some major work, gotta clean that out too. Will be a good time to eat through all the little stuff in there so that when fresh stuff is coming in from the garden we can eat that.

Today I did a regular clean through the house but when I got to the kitchen i went through the one cabinet that had plastic stuff in it, the cottage cheese type containers went into recycling and some of the other stuff went into a bag for the thrift store.

I found a desk for DD on Craigslist. I'm crossing my fingers and waiting for the reply!

I also found a desk/dresser set for DS and am awaiting the reply that says I can pick it up tomorrow night!

Still waiting to find fabric I like for the chairs. I figured out how to get the seats off, I bought a staple gun (keeping that thing far far away from the kids!), but my pickiness is slowing me down. I'm thinking about getting new curtains too . . . but of course I'll want those to match the chairs. I'm thinking maybe red and white plaid? Or maybe not?

Ok I totally need to join in. My dining room and kitchen are kinda in together and both are small so that will be my focus.

So for today I need to take some storage bins I'm keeping for a friend out to the garage as well as dhs tools that have amassed in there. Hope I get more done than that. But if I get that done I'll be thrilled.
