Do you pull shower curtains closed when not in use or leave them open? Which looks less cluttered?

Ack! I can't edit the poll for typos. Sorry!

I mostly keep it closed. I think the collections of soap, shampoo, conditioner, shaving supplies, etc. for three people are more cluttery than spacious-looking. Maybe if you're one of those people who manages a tidy collection in one corner or keeps your shower supplies in a cabinet, but that's just not us.

I close it so it dries properly. So it doesn't have much to do with whether or not it looks cluttered

I voted "closed" but ours is rarely actually closed. I just prefer it that way. No one else around here thinks to close it. And right now we have no towel bars because we haven't finished remodeling. Once the towel bars are up, maybe I'll be more insistent on closing the shower curtain - especially since that's what I'm basing the new bathroom color on.

it makes everything look need. when it is open you see everything! i also think closed makes for a more uniformed look...

Ive never thought about it looking cluttered or not, open or closed. I close it so mold and mildew dont grow in the crevices. :-)

Closed. Keeping it closed after a shower helps it dry out completely and keep from mildewing.

I close it so it will dry properly, plus i like the print on it. I suppose it would depend on how busy your shower curtain was though - if it was a busy pattern, open might look less cluttered.

I think the room looks much neater when the shower curtain is closed, so that's how I voted. ITA with whoever above mentioned the collection of soaps, shampoo, etc looking much more cluttered than the "smaller space" of the closed shower curtain.

But, in reality, the shower curtain often stays open. If we need to hang any laundry, the curtain NEEDS to stay open so there's room to hang the stuff, and with the washing machine in the bathroom, my bathroom doubles as a laundry room.

I can't bear seeing it closed. It makes the room feel closed in, and an ax murderer could be hiding behind it.

i voted open. i do keep it closed to dry, but then open it later. we have a rather small bathroom and keeping it closed makes it seem even more cramped.

Ours is generally open since the room is so small you could stand in the middle and touch all the walls and I hate small spaces. I close it when company comes over or if I have laundry stored in the tub (no where else to put it). This reminds me I need to look for a nicer shower curtain

I leave it open so the tile surround can dry. It's best to do that, according to the contractors who remodeled my bathroom...

I used to leave it open all the time. Today I bought a new curtain and liner, and it's closed. It's purty, but the room feels tiny.

Mine is actually half open & half closed. I guess I have watched too many horror movies when I was younger...I don't like them all the way closed unless I am taking a shower

I keep it closed so it will dry better. I also hang the rug over the side of the tub so it will dry better and dirty feet don't grind dirt into it all day long.

Well, we have a shower curtain (white lace) covering our shower doors in one bathroom. (Full size shower...tub-size, but no tub.) You can sort of see into the shower, but it is FAR prettier with the curtain. DH likes the shower curtain closed while he showers (glass doors), but tends to leave it open after he gets out. I like the shower curtain partially open while I shower and much prefer it closed the rest of the time. (I can see out for little ones, but I cannot read the clock if the curtain is closed.) Works great if DH showers first!

The other bathroom has a tub/shower and we pulled out the shower doors a long time ago because I hated cleaning the bathtub with the tracks and being pregnant and knowing it'd be just as much of a pain once the baby was here. When anyone comes up the last set of stairs, this tub/shower is the first thing they see. I prefer they (we) see a pretty shower curtain than the boring shower surround. DD only has one shampoo and one conditioner in sight, so I don't care about that. More important to me than the visual appeal, though, is I don't want mildew growing on the liner.

I keep it closed, but not all the way - I pull it toward the center a bit from each end to let air flow behind it, but not enough so that you can see all the toiletries in there unless you're really looking.

ours is generally partially open. the freshly-showered person hangs their towel to dry on the curtain rod on one end, and the curtain is pulled as open as possible on the unused portion of rod to allow it to dry. our curtain is clear, so you can see what's going on in our tub, regardless. fortunately, it's not much-- for a family of four, we only have one bottle of shampoo, one of conditioner, my body wash, and the body wash that everyone else uses.
