Got the clothes today. Oh my so excited. Took my friend three sacks of my clothes which I don't either love or wear frequently. She was thrilled. I am running things thru the washer/dryer as we speak cause I'm unable to wear anything without washing it first. I can't wait to hang it all up and see if I wanna keep any of the few pieces that made the first cut lol.

sounds easy-=-at least there's the basics, and then if you got too bored, it's easy to pop up a bit over time....and will probably last through "trends" if you get the right styles of those colors.

I am a fan of the simplified clothing idea. As a teenager, I wore black almost exclusively. Then went through a "religious phase" and wore florals and bright colors and dresses... {shudders}. Nowadays, I'm back to basic black tops with jeans and the occasional red top thrown in. I have TONS of black tops - they make me happy, lol. And jeans... oh, the jeans. I am SO the jeans & Doc Martens girl. I have a couple of brown tops (mostly to keep my brown Docs in rotation) and wear the very, very, very occasional other-colored or multi-colored top. I really need to weed out the things I don't wear though.
I'm glad you're liking the ease of wardrobe simplification!

Welll I bought several long and short sleeved organic cotton T's in grey, white and black. I also bought bootcut, midrise yoga type pants in grey and black. I have a couple of black dressier blouses to go with my BKE jeans 2 pairs. I want to add in a couple of hoodie sweaters to mix and match. I layer the tees wear them alone. wear grey on bottom with black or white on top, or layer white then black on top. with black bottoms I wear white and grey on top. I am gonna get a "superheroes necklace" for my christmas and bday to add in a pop of color. I have really short hair and kinda funky hip glasses. I think I look pretty good. I am gonna add in a couple of dressier shirts. I live in rural MO. We aren't big dressy up folks in my area, but I do like something to wear out to dinner with jeans or slacks. Skirts and dresses aren't me. I work as a scrub nurse and have to wear hospital issued scrubs so work clothes are non existent. We do not attend church so no need for dressy stuff. Anyway, I'm happy with it all. SO easy to leave for work at 6am with little thought to "what should I wear?"

This is an interesting topic. Ive pared down a ton in the past, but I've never bought new clothes with simplifying in mind. With versatility in mind, of course, but never intentionally sticking to a narrow color scheme. I have had both my darks phases and my brights phases over the years, that's for sure. I would love to go all black.white.gray because the accessory splashes then have great flair to them! But I can not because (at this time anyway) I definitely can not wear white :P I am loving blues and greens these days and I feel like I should force myself to shake it up, but thank you for reminding me that it is ok to stick with a couple colors- as long as you feel good in them!

Bumping up this threaad ...

I've been inspired. I consider myself to be a minimalist, but my wardrobe is overflowing! I've realised that I buy way to many clothes from thrift stores because they are good prices, but I think I would be better paring my wardrobe down to basics of items that I love and wear often.

I am totally a jeans and black top girl, too!

In my circle of college buddies, this is known as "the Asian uniform". I actually had to force myself to stop buying black tops because I had so many.
