Finally dove into our 4 drawer filing cabinet and pulled out any paperwork from before 2003/2004 to shred and recycle (other than original loan docs, etc.) I'd have more bags of shredded material listed except that my shredder overheated mid project! DH says it just needs some oil so I'm enlisting his help in doing that tonight...hopefully I will resume my shredding party tomorrow afternoon.

7 blankets to goodwill
1 duvet cover and 2 pillow shams to garage sale pile
2 vases-garage sale
47 CD's for recycling as soon as I can find a place that will take them
2 floppy disks
6 bags of shredded papers to recycle

Lets see if I can remember what I got rid of. I can count, but sometimes the objects dont stick in my mind.

26 items: email unsubscribes, hangers from baby clothes, dried out baby wipes, unmatched baby socks, broken baby toys.

Ugh, I am so grossed out. I just decluttered one metal bowl full of candy. There were bugs eating the Hersey's kisses. :Puke There were also the same little protein beetles eating a picture frame that SD had made in kindergarten. I salvaged the photos, but chucked the frame. *GROSS*

And in the process of cleang out that cupboard I also managed to toss another 10-15 items (so I'll count 12) and rehome another 5 or 6 things to where they belong. I have an almost empty cupboard! Too bad it's the one over the fridge that is so hard to get to.

I haven't been in this thread for awhile. I was under the weather last week, so not a lot of progress to report. I did get a set of plastic measuring cups and a plastic serving spoon into the charity bag (not counting yet, though).

I also went through two more files in the filing cabinet. Shredded 2002 taxes (THICK due to two schedule Cs) and two now-closed bank accounts. So much paperwork, DD emptied the shredder bin twice into the recycling bin outside. I still have more to shred and more to go through, but am counting what went out. = 2

DD & I also did a little crafting and I ran across several items to let go of.... = 1

One day I decided to do my hair and makeup in order to try that "fake it till you make it" strategy to feel better. I tossed a tube of mascara. (ETA: It was still in the package before I opened it and it was GROSS!) = 1

Four things in a week.

Strep throat last week, nice right before we move, right.

I'm at 606/2010. I think I can get halfway to 2010 before actual moving day.

several baby hats
4 pairs of baby mittens
three garbage bags full of my clothes

There are several other things, but that is what I remember for a couple of days ago.
Oh and I got rid of a bunch of puzzle pieces, man I hate when the kids tear them apart.

so if I were to guess how many things I got rid of piece by piece
I'm thinking.....
600/2010

It is really sad to think about how much I paid, but hopefully I can make 50 cents for each thing. Geez that is depressing

But it is way better for it be gone and have a cleaner, less cluttered house.
It was mostly in the closets, but now I can be more creative with that space as well.

ETA: pillow shams, pillow cases, aromatherapy pillows (new- given to a friend who can actually use them - 2 essential oils as well) Box of maternity clothes.

I put a pair of my pants and a shirt of DH's (with his prior consent) in the charity bag today. (Will count once they leave the premises.)

I finished all the shredding last night and took out two bags to the recycling bin today. = 2

DD cleaned off her desk in the family office and recycled or tossed half a dozen items that she previously would not part with. She also offered up several items to be shared with friends (stickers and die cuts). (Will count the sharing items once they leave the premises.) = 6

I am also giving myself one point for recycling/tossing the itty bitty scraps as I scrapbook instead of keeping them like I usually do. = 1

Nine items for the weekend.

Garage sale over but I'll be putting our stuff out again this Saturday...so not REALLY over yet I guess!

12 bags of shredding--normally I'd wait till I had more to report before posting but since this project took me 4 WHOLE DAYS because of the sorry state of my shredder that kept overheating...I figured I'd celebrate!

Not counting, since the items were already counted, but celebrating too! DH took the BIG box of personal paperwork to work with him for shredding. All the paperwork they produce in his office is confidential so they send their stuff out so it can be done by professionals! Much better than me having to buy a shredder. I can't imagine having to do all that!

Also celebrating because I admitted defeat and hired a cleaner. She came yesterday and cleaned our bathroom (an hour and a half job it was in such a sorry state) and it's so sparkly now! I just couldn't face it myself. She also mopped the kitchen floor and then we ran out of time. She'll be back next week to touch up the bathroom, dust all the shelves in the living room and clean the kitchen.

In preparing for Garage Sale: Part Deux I went through and purged clothing out of 10 rubbermaid tubs of baby/kid clothing (size 0-4T), and also organized/purged some of the "toy storage" that we rotate toys out of in the garage. My total went up significantly as a result (drumroll please...):

264 items to the garage sale pile (mostly clothing, with a couple pairs of shoes and toys thrown in for good measure...)

Turned my music on with the intentions of doing a major clean/purge. Turned on the speakers for the tv since the business which runs downstairs hasn't complained when we listen to the tv using them before; didn't touch the volume since I figured it's okay at that volume with the tv. Apparently when it's music though, it's "too loud".
Now I'm depressed and have no motivation at all.

eta: got rid of a box of dirty disposeable coffee cups DH was hoarding for some reason (?!) and 2 broken baby gates.
That brings me to 28. Yay?
