Today is the weird day where I have forty minutes at home. I dropped 5yo ds off at speech (it's an hour). We drove the ten minutes home, cleaned out the van, loaded up the recycling, donation dropoffs and library books to return. Now I have five minutes left before I go pick him up again.

Good luck!
Nothing gets me moving faster and the house clean than the threat of people coming over. I have joked with DH that he should call me from work every now and then and tell me he is having some friends over.

Totally!

Thanks Okimom, sweetfoxes and poetrylover for your words. I am just having a hard time balancing discipline, me time, cleaning and such. It feels super chaotic but maybe that's just life with little kids.

Today I:

made breakfast
started unloading the dishwasher

Yesterday I:

finished rearranging the tv room, looks much better! Now just need to organize the craft area.
reorganized the bathroom, looks much better too.

I hope to get to my previous list this weekend now that dp is home. I haven't been able to get anything done this week being home by myself!

My goal this afternoon is going to be to put in an hour of cleaning/organizing time. I think I'm also going to put the kids to work.

Laundry in mid wash routine- I am planning to sit down with the tv tonight to fold the lot at once.

I will vacuum, but I need to get a new cleaner for my floor, I'm getting a weird residue build up that I haven't dealt with before. It's driving me nuts. Grr.. I'm washing every day or so, but it's icky.

Dinner is already prepped- I'll need to throw it together but all the work is done.

I cooked seitan and DH cooked a vegetable/seitan pot pie. It was yummy! I wiped the toilet and sink down in the bathroom, made the bed and picked up the living room and kitchen. It was a lovely visit.

In the process of entertaining, we didn't get the supper dishes washed. They will greet us tomorrow. Oh well...

Goodnight all~

Isn't it awesome? It clicked for me to discover that cleaning does not have to be overwhelming unless I made it overwheling. 10 or 15 minutes here and there throughout the day makes a HUGE difference.

I probably won't be around to much the next week or so. I just talked to my dad, my grandpa passed earlier today. I was very close to him and its hitting me hard I can't even really be there for my family since Im so far away from them.

I didn't do anything today (I found out this morning) and Im planning on spending tomorrow sewing. DH is taking the girls for the morning and part of the afternoon so I can have some time alone. Hopefully I can sleep tonight and get some stuff done tomorrow.

congrats on your progress, applecider!

I'm going to try to be producive today and am going to begin with putting away the dishes in the strainer and washing last night's dinner dishes! This may take a couple 15 minute sessions. I'll be back to report!

Welcome, straighthaircurly!

Congrats on your productivity, Eviesmom!

The massive pile of dishes are done (with DH's help). I want to take it semi easy today, but plan to clear the top shelf of the living room closet and have DH help me to sort through our clothes, getting rid of (or repurposing) the things that don't fit or that have no wear left in them (like lots of DH's t-shirts LOL). I also want to make a relatively simple dinner and do dinner cleanup.

ETA: And I plan to attack all the mismatched socks! They're either being repurposed as dusting/cleaning rags or being thrown out!

Last night we had my dd's best friend sleep over, kinda spur of the moment. But, my house looked decently enough to invite someone over. She just went home after we baked cookies (her dad came for her). Since we'd just finished baking, I sent a few home with her otherwise she wouldn't have gotten any. That's how close the timing was.

I emptied the trunk of the car so we have a place to put the suitcases when we pick up DH and DD2 from the airport tomorrow afternoon and am making stock. We gave the dog a bath last night.

Now, I need to clean the kitchen and fold/hang up the laundry that just finished and sweep the floor. Oh, and clean the bathroom. Especially after giving the dog a bath. Really, it is weird to be sitting in a (fairly) neat house.

Wow, it's been a simultaneously productive and lazy weekend! DH made really awesome chili which we had for supper last night and tonight.

We both sorted through all of our clothes today and have an overflowing garbage bag going to the donate pile. We also organized all of the clothes that we're keeping. We don't have a lot of storage space, but I found an area in each dresser to store some books. There is a side door that opens on my dresser that I decided to make the home for all the children's books. Then in DH's dresser, there are 2 doors that open to reveal 2 shelves and he let me put my stash of writing/parenting books that I refer to often (along with the nice calligraphy set that my late uncle gave me) on one of them. Most special, perhaps, is that in a bout of decluttering (actually in the last box far back on the shelf of the living room closet, the very closet that nearly ate me alive this week) I found the original little basket my late uncle gave me with some old children's books in it. I'd already discovered the books, but I didn't know where the basket was. I added some really special children's books from the late 1800s and early 1900s, along with Raggedy Ann & Andy cloth dolls that my sister gave me. This is now my "special" reading basket.

Anyway, I feel on top of the world for accomplishing those things. Also, my DH and I cleaned under our bed. I'm embarrassed how much stuff was under there. I organized the toy box and I still have to organize my closet and purge shoes. I'll likely leave the rest for tomorrow. But yay! I'm making progress in my home.

Well done to you all on your productivity!

Poetry I know what you mean...I used to store things under our beds, but we don't have a big space under the ones we have, so it made it difficult to get the things out to clean, so I ended up with too much dust collecting under the bed, so I no longer keep anything under them. Now I can quickly move the bed and vacuum in seconds!

This morning I have cleaned two toilets and cleaned the ensuite sink, cleaned and filled the coffee machine.

Off to stock up on food...really should plan meals first I guess, that is my stumbling block!

Me, too!

I'm trying Okimom's idea of a list of 3 things for my husband, 3 for myself, 3 for my son and 3 for my home. Right now I'm making myself brunch. Then I plan to fold/put away 2 loads of laundry, transfer 1 load to the dryer and start the diapers soaking. Then I'm off to exercise. :-)
