118.  2 old toothbrushes

119.  fabric softener ball for the washer

This is getting harder, since DSD is in town.  She uses the family room in the basement as her bedroom, and I can't get down there in the mornings to de-crapify the basement storage area because she sleeps late.

108 - Plastic nipple container that I will NEVER use. Why did I save it?

109 - Plastic pacifier container and paci lids - see above.

110 - Stack of catalogs 12" high.

111 - several plastic name tag holders that I was saving to find a use for.

attempted to get money for late 1990's silk Asian style suit with giant shoulder pads - apparently not back in style yet.

I've got a few things set aside for donations but I don't want to count them until they're actually gone.

Only 39 more to go and I could have counted a few more things individually.

Have also reorganized my in-box - got this tip from a book.

I have a bunch of hanging folders and some sticky-post it notes. Everything goes in a folder and it's labeled temporarily with an ACTION verb.

So I've got folders that say: BUY theatre tickets; DONATE to University; BUY - LL Bean $10 coupon; Register - Swim lessons. And then I can SEE everything I'm supposed to do. The idea is that the post-it notes aren't permanent and they aren't HAVE to dos. They are just there to allow you to choose to do things. Once it's done, the note gets thrown out and the folder stays put for the next thing - like pizza coupons that expire or causes you MIGHT donate to. If I don't use the coupons no big deal, but they are there and labled in case I do want to use them. I had been just keeping things in this box, but more things got put on top them and then you forget about them etc. If there's a date I think you are supposed to put that on the tab, too. I have great hopes for this system!

And - I don't have the hanging folder thing yet - but I didn't let that stop me from getting all of the folders ready with their temporary post-it tabs. THis is progress. They are kind of standing in my in-box now. It's working OK. I'll get a hanging file things later.

Good for you. I once burned a pile of old bad work reviews in a ceremony at my church. I realized that whenever I cleaned up, I came across the file and chose to read it and then felt bad all over again. No need to have THAT  hanging around. And now, I have this great burning memory of them. Like starting anew!

But - don't the 12 days of Christmas start at St. Nicholas' day on Dec 12 and go through Dec 25th? I'm counting up until the new year. That should be a good start.

Thanks girls...it felt strange throwing a diary out, part of me was saying, "this is my history", but why should we hang on to part of our history that makes us feel miserable?

I am so fired up to declutter more today, this is just for starters...

93. body balm I don't like

94. pile of coathangers

Shall we extend this to before Dec 31?  I know personally I need more time to reach 150 things.

95. lots and lots of clothing belonging to my oldest DD...listing as just one as she did all the work clearing out.

96. odd shoe, tired of waiting for the other one to turn up.

112 - silk suit with giant shoulder pads to nice resale shop.

113 - one raincoat (out of 3!) that DD consented to get rid of. Back to the shop I bought it from - resale.

114 - handful of pens that don't write - including dry erase and "wet erase."

Can someone re-assure me that I don't need 5 sets of measuring spoons?

I was thinking of keeping 2 -

one near the sink and one near the spices. I plan to get hooks to mount them.

That leaves 2 partials, that I was thinking  of putting in the camping equipment plus the single sliding one. Which ones should I keep? I guess the partials should go and I can keep the slider.

Well don't think I'm making it to 150 as planned. Too busy, I'm a flunky! I do know, that since my last post I've gotten rid of at least another 40 items. So not bad overall! Only like 100 instead of 150.  I'm going to do a  major overhaul next year though. Like the entire house, like 2011 in 2011. Happy Holidays to all!

Well, I had planned to get rid of 150 bags or boxes, and I made it to 50 but 50 is still a big number and it ended up over 150 things that left the house. :) Mainly I got rid of old papers, text books and clothes. So now, let the after christmas purge continue. Out with the old, in with the new.

My goal- to declutter my scrapbooking and art materials. I am turning the craft closet into my broom/cleaning closet. The crafts are going into the spare bedroom. Life will be much less hectic

I haven't given up yet but I'm a little desperate in the way I'm counting. But I think this is OK because sometimes I'm more conservative.

116-117 - 2 pair of pants.

118 - mug from my home town that I hate the style of.

119 pens that didn't write.

120 -121- 2 pair of PJs.

121 - 1 shirt of DHs (he says it can go).

122 poster - Murphy's computer laws. I trashed it.

123 - old tights.

124 broken toy tea pot that DD was hiding in her room.

125 - empty pad that I used to jot this stuff down on!

126 random papers.

127 - 2 partial sets of measuring spoons. Several mangled from garbage disposal.

128 - box of gingerbread that I gave to a neighbor. (But we were never going to use it.) I'm thinking of trashing the other one.  (well I said I was getting desperate!).

More from DDs room.

129 - Old chocolate (and the tin it was in - We DON'T need this!).

130- old felt with something glued to it.

131 - 132 - 2 skirts of mine.

133 - McDs toy (I think. It said burp on it or something gross. I think it makes noise).
