Well, I packed up most of my fabric stash last night. 12 yards of fabric to be donated, miscellaneous scraps of material I don't like are tossed. Also, I realized that I have some really pretty fabrics! I wanted to stop sorting and sew instead but I resisted. So, I'll give myself 8 points for that (I want an even number!). I still need to go through my sewing notions and the fabric I have upstairs and in another tote.

Okay! Went through my fabric upstairs and notions- tons of elastic, ribbon and zippers all organized into glass jars. They'll look very cool on a shelf above my sewing area when we finally resettle. I also tossed some in the donate bin- 5 spools of ribbon to donate, 4 bunches of scrap fabric tossed and one huge box of scraps that I don't have any idea why I saved!

You know, it's totally true- once you start getting rid of stuff, it's so much easier to just keep going! I still have a tote of unfinished projects I took from my grandma's house after she died. I'm not sure how to get rid of those... or if I should. I don't think I'll ever finish them but I'm sure my mom or aunt will take them if I don't want them so I won't be able to get them out of my house for awhile.

I posted earlier about purging a huge stack of paper.. my shredder died about half way through it : (  Are these repairable or should I just toss it and get a new one?

4 decks of cards - I am hoping to pare this down more, when I was a kid I had a playing card collection...lol. We do not need like 30 decks of cards! Unfortunately each one has the place where I got it.. so I am like.. oh this was from that family vacation to Seaside, OR.   Things with meaning are so much harder.

3 hair brushes

1 diaper cover

2 old cell phones

1 beanie baby

1 lacing board

6 Christmas plates

1 Christmas hand towel

1 orange peeler

1 calendar

2 kitchen kitchen gadgets

1 coffee grinder

1 robe

truedat.gif  thats how I feel my freinds think Im crazy but Im sure theres an extra 2011 items in here

same here!

I've gotten rid of about 5000 things in the past 2 and a half years. I started doing a 500 item goal and thought I'd never make it. Then I did way too easily. I still have too much stuff (plus a small house) my MIL doesn't know I declutter like crazy and keeps giving me the helpful suggestion that "she'd just get rid of a couple items everyday even if its junk mail". Um yeah thanks- how about you take home those bags full of junk you just brought in before you get upset that I've gotten rid of it.

Glad I am not alone! It is amazing how I can keep finding things to remove from my 1200sq ft home. Had I counted over the years I just can't imagine the number I would be at. My goal is that someday this will slow down. Although, I don't know if that will happen with IL's (hoarders - bringing things (often when I am not home) and parents that are hoarders. My mother passed away 2 weeks ago and I have only taken one thing into my house so far that was hers (a bright pink robe that I wear because it is so her & not me). Can't help but remember her when I wear it. I am sure I will bring home more as my siblings & Dad clean out her stuff (whatever he will let us get rid of). Trying to be very selective and remember that memories don't need dusting!

Okay last couple days:

garbage - 9

recycle - 9

Donate:

pair old work shoes

tennis ball

14 wire hangers brought to dry cleaner

2 kids clothes outgrown

4 misc items

Give to daughter who just moved out:

thingy for her computer

2 more measuring spoons

New total

88/2011

My shredder often dies halfway through a big pile, the motor cuts out when it overheats, it usually takes it about a day to wake up again. Would that be what has happened yours or did it do something more spectacular? :)

Cleaned out a kitchen drawer today (LOVE the Motivated Moms list!) and got rid of 8 random kitchen utensils into the 'donate' box.  Oh yeah, and a whole baggie full of twisty-ties.  Why was I hanging on to all of those???

Also ditched: 1 empty tube of diaper cream, 1 tub of rancid shea butter, and 1 can of pipe tobacco from DH's bachelor days.  (He's still resisting my getting rid of his pipes...)

And a big success: I convinced DH to add one of DD's Christmas presents to the donate box.  This is a huge success!  It's a set of plastic foam blocks that have the most awful plasticky-fragrancey smell, like the off-gassing was so bad that they added some sort of flower scent to cover it up.  The blocks are cute enough, but with my pregnant nose I could smell them all the way across the house.  They have to go.

MIL cleaned out HER kitchen drawers and cabinets yesterday and came over here with three bags of stuff she thought we might like.  So I suppose I need to tack on some negative points for that one.  irked.gif  And yes, before you ask, she knows I'm on a decluttering spree.  Now I have to figure out how to return them to her -- or get rid of them -- politely.

It's possible that's what happened.. my daughter was feeding a big stack through, probably about the 6 page maximum that it has, and the motor just stopped.  I thought it was jammed but because the motor won't go in reverse or turn on at all, it probably overheated like you said. Thanks!

This is happening to us with some foam stickers.  They smelled so bad they triggered a migraine for me.  Thank you for mentioning the off-gassing... now I am think the stickers need to go as well.

SO much stuff this time that I can't even list them all. Went through another tub and found more material so I purged some of that to either trash or donate. Roughly 100 CDs from my high school days- bands I no longer like or listen to- to donate. Some hangers donated.

I'm just going to say 200 things decluttered. We made EXCELLENT progress on packing tonight! If we keep this up the whole three weeks, moving will be a breeze!

My mom was visiting so I had a slight break from decluttering but I put a number of dolls and outfits on collector's message board and sold 8 items. Once the final one is mailed I will update the total. In the meantime I'm listing more. My goal is to rehome at least 10 dolls this month (4 sold). I made about $350 on the items and still more to go, so I'm decluttering my debts too. joy.gif
