Cleaned out the fridge and got rid of 15 items of expired food.

I normally wouldn't let myself count this as clutter, but since several items had been sitting in there since before DH and I were married, I figured that it counts.  There were at least half a dozen things with an expiration date before 2008.  I don't think we've even had the fridge that long!!!

What I remember from the last week is getting rid of 2 sippy cups that always leak and a coffee table.  I think there was more, but I've forgotten.  :)

Got started on the pantry (30 expired food cans recycled) and culled baby toys (most of these never played with) - gave away a bunch on craigslist. New total with everything 406! thumb.gif

Another 300- almost too easy to count- my grandmother sent stuff up with my mother..but since I could have kept it all and did keep a few things I'll count itso new total: 1575/2011

DH and I were talking of moving (which turns out we're not doing) but it made me look at our stuff with new eyes so I might try to go through things again as if we were moving and could only take a limited amount of things.

Good for you!  Where are you selling yarn, can I ask?  I'd love to get rid of some of my stash that way, though it's painful even to think about it.

I shop for yarn on Spots Corner.

1 stack of magazines

1 pile of packets of condiments (I think in the fridge from when we moved in 6 years ago)

1 pile of papers

1 AIO diaper that never gets used.

5 skeins of yarn turned into useful things

DH and I were talking of moving (which turns out we're not doing) but it made me look at our stuff with new eyes so I might try to go through things again as if we were moving and could only take a limited amount of things.

I just have the yarn I'm willing to part with stashed under the trade/sell tab on Ravelry.  I've had a surprising number of inquiries that way (these three were my first sale though as shipping prices here are INSANE) and I'm not ready to just give yarn away...  I also sold some locally just by listing on a local moms board.  My yarn stash got WAY out of hand last year and I've got so much now and so very little motivation to knit.  All that yarn (and the money tied up in it) is completely stressing me out.  Sure it's pretty, but what was I thinking?????

Good for you!  Where are you selling yarn, can I ask?  I'd love to get rid of some of my stash that way, though it's painful even to think about it.

Thanks!  I don't have much yarn, but I'm probably never going to use the stuff I have -- I tend to buy new yarn for new projects rather than digging in my stash.  Might as well let someone else use it before the moths eat it all!!!  That happened to me once, and it was so sad -- several pounds of lovely unprocessed rough-spun wool straight from the island of Chiloe, totally ruined.  *Sigh*

Moral of the story: that's what happens when you collect clutter, it just gets eaten and your money is wasted in the end!

Today I managed to eliminate or donate:

1 rock-solid container of plumber's putty (probably 15 years old at least)

5 sample-size baby wash and lotions (all yucky stuff we'll never use)

4 pacifier covers

1 old pacifier

1 package of thermometer covers

1 old prescription

1 bath pouf

Plus, I set aside a huge stack of old stained receiving blankets and crib sheets to turn into diapers.  Now I just have to figure out how to actually make them...

I'm traveling the world with my kids without ever leaving home and blogging about it -- watch, taste, and share our adventures at TheGlobalStayCation.com!

Thanks! Everyone is doing so great! I'm trying to get completely done by the end of May cause I know once baby gets here the decluttering will fall by the wayside and everyone will be sending up stuff.

ETA: I googled sock purse out of curiosity, and they're not as odd as I thought they would be.

Finished a sewing project that used up 4 meters of fabric I bought over a year ago (for a completely different project that I abandoned before I even started it.) There are still two more meters but I have an idea how I can use them. I have more fabric (and old clothes and linens to be repurposed) than I have space for, right now most of it is packed into a few drawers I'd like to use for something else. I'm going to dedicate the next couple of months to working on my backlog of projects and reducing my fabric stash.
