Ugh, I have no luck with wicker stuff. And I hate mold!!! So I was utterly un-delighted to discover that the wicker basket I bought a while ago to hold our reusable bags in the hallway had gotten covered in furry mold and also infected some of the bags. There is no recovering from mold in my eyes, it is so yucky, into the bin they all go... I suspect a wet bag snuck in there and festered, that'll learn me :) Ugh I feel so moldy now grossedout.gif

Binned:

1 very moldy gross wicker basket

and 10 reusable bags covered in mold

Recycled:

2 big piles cardboard

As far as trash goes -- I count it if it's stuff that I haven't gotten around to for a long time and it's just cluttering up the house.  I don't count it if it's just random everyday garbage.

I've gone hunting for places to recycle old batteries and it looks like the consensus is that most "ordinary" batteries (i.e., not rechargeable ones) are not really recyclable.  I couldn't find any place that would take them.  Lowe's will take rechargeable ones, I know, but I don't think they take the ordinary alkalines.

Way to go, getting rid of all those Disney DVD's!!!  My toddler has just learned the word "princess" and I'm horrified.  We don't even own any Disney!

A slow day today, but I did manage to get another book out of the house via Amazon and a stack of things to the consigment shop for a total of $24.16!  New decluttering profit total: $184.33!

I'm traveling the world with my kids without ever leaving home and blogging about it -- watch, taste, and share our adventures at TheGlobalStayCation.com!

I have been neglecting this!

Samstress, I don't count everyday trash either....except I do count outdated food items (sauces etc) that have been in the fridge or pantry for way too long.

Tossed:

Huge pile of papers from filing cabinet

Huge pile of brochures and catalogues

some old kids drawings (photographed first)

5 old toiletries

Washed, dried and put away: a large blanket that was on the floor of our second bathroom/laundry room since November.

I wouldn't ordinarily count laundry, but the blanket took up so much space on the floor for so long. I didn't wash it sooner because it doesn't fit in our washer, so had to be hand-washed, and because we've had such a damp winter that it would have taken weeks to dry inside the house. But we finally had a string of sunny days this week! There's still a comforter, even bigger than the blanket, but I don't think I can do it, I think it'll have to be dry-cleaned. I wish there were a laundromat somewhere near here! The frustrating thing is that we don't actually need either of these but dh will not let them go. irked.gif We never use them but they were stored improperly and became really dusty. I won't let that happen again.

Finally, finally, finally - pregnant neighbor came by to take maternity clothes -

10 items went home with her and I've got a pile more to drop by her house. She thought I was crazy when I insisted on counting them before she left.

197/2011 -

new goal is 200 by today. I just need to find 3 things to throw out!
