clutterwarrior, for some reason, I find it comforting to see your posts before I go to bed, thinking about you keeping your home while I sleep. I hope you have a productive, cozy day over there on the other side of the world.! :)

Wow, Poetry! Good thing you are nursing a baby, so you can make sure to take some breaks. Impressive list! You'll feel so good when its all done!

I didn't get much done today, just some straightening up. And went to the bank.

I am going back and forth between wanting someone to have a baby tonight, and wanting tomorrow at home to get my house together (having people over Saturday pm) and prepping/cooking for when I am inevitably swept away into this birth storm thats brewing...

If I don't get a call, tomorrow I will:

...clean out the fridge

...wipe down cabinets

...wash the kitchen floor

...wipe down the furniture

...wash the hard floors

...do the windows

...bird cages need to be cleaned (I *should* put this on the top of the list!)

Then:

...make chicken tika misala with rice and naan for dinnner

...inventory fridge, pick recipes and prep as much food as I can

...would love to bake pumpkin cupcakes with maple syrup frosting - yum!

Oh my, what do I want to get done today?

Done so far:

lunches made, kids to school, dishes washed.

Still to come:

Plumber is on his way -- our main water line started to leak yesterday.  Looks like we will have a big repair job in our front yard in the next few days.  And it will be an expensive job -- I was kind of hoping to get a new couch to seat our ever growing family, but looks like that is a done deal now.    Done

Grocery shopping -- this is getting desperate.  We are starting to eat those weird, last of the fridge meals.   Done

Pay day -- need to pay bills.    Done

Choose paint for the dining room/kitchen -- This is an ongoing project.  I'd like to pick up a couple more paint chips and at least stare at them for a while.  Choosing paint is so hard.

Update:

I had an hour to wait for the plumber and got a mountain of decluttering done.  Cleared out the front room, dusted the living room and dumped a bunch of papers, and I finally (!) cleaned out the fireplace.  Everything looks much better.

*bejeweled* likes this.

My MIL, SIL, and nephew are coming in tonight for a weekend visit, DH has a chili cook-off tomorrow, and I have a reunion (of-sorts) with some online friends tomorrow...so it's shaping up to be a busy weekend...which is making me feel yucky, cause the last thing I feel like doing right now is cleaning!!

So, here's my must-do-in-spite-of-morning-sickness list:

*Clean the kitchen (which involves a couple loads through the dishwasher, putting all the dishes away, cleaning out the fridge, and at least sweeping the floor) Floor is swept, counters/stove/microwave/table/chairs are wiped down, first load running in dishwasher...I'll clear out the fridge and deal with putting away clean dishes/starting dishwasher again once kidlet is up from nap...doubt the floor will get mopped, though!!

*Do what seems like a million loads of laundry...including the folding, hanging, and putting away One load washed/dried/put away, two loads washed/dried, one load drying, one load washing...whew!!

Still to do all of:

*Clean the guest bathroom and set out towels and toiletries This will take about 5 minutes to clean, and another 5 minutes to get stuff set out.

*Dig out the extra bedding One set is in the clean laundry, other in linen closet...won't take but 5 minutes to do this...

*Plan out meals and a grocery list Ugh!!

*Cross my fingers that I've got enough food stuffs on hand to not need to go grocery shopping today Ugh!!

*Vacuum the floors in all the main areas of the house If this isn't done when DH gets home, he MAY do it...

*Close off the master suite and the home office and pretend they don't exist as far as trying to get them clean!! A matter of a few seconds...

On top of the other stuff, I've got to get myself and kidlet bathed and fix dinner...

Married to my computer geek since 11.04.06. Mama to our little dude Bug (born 7.14.09, peanut allergy, asthma) and our rainbow baby girl Sweetpea (born 4.14.13). Forever missing my angel babies--Riley, Paisley, and Waverley!!

Decluttering my life...

Ok, I have to get moving and do some stuff. Ive been being lazy today. I just fixed the vacuum so Im going to go see what trouble I can get myself into whistling.gif

1st 15 minutes- rotated laundry, took out trash, empty/reloaded dishwasher and put away pots/pans on sink

2nd 15 minutes- wiped off table/chairs, sinks and swept kitchen

3rd 15 minutes- cleaned up living room and vacuumed

Took a break and nursed the baby down for a nap.

4th 15 minutes- picked up both bedrooms and the playroom, vacuumed the girls room and the playroom. I won't be doing mine until tomorrow, Im not waking the baby.

5th 15 minutes- put dinner to boil, talked to the girls about chimps/gave my oldest DD her worksheets for the day, checked the laundry/turned it back on and started preparing the fabric for the wash.

Now the baby is up so Im off to take care of him while dinner simmers on the stove

Ive had a pretty rough day (nothing really bad just nothing seeming to go right) but I got most of my list done.. I also got the best e-mail ever, we have a return window and block leave dates! There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Tomorrow my FIL is suppose to be coming over with the mechanic to check on the van. If he doesn't Sunday (which I really dislike doing business on Sundays but I need a running vehicle, Im almost out of food) I have to take it to a random mechanic and have them check it out. If it doesn't get taken care of soon Im going to run out of food for the kids..and pets..

This weekend to dos:

make reservations for christmas processional

cut out doll dresses

cut out DS's outfits

cut out DD2's birthday dress

finish up the laundry

finish up the dishcloth for the swap

sweep/mop animal closet

strip dog crate and wash linens

plan activities for this week

fix van

finish up DH's last care package so it gets there on time

Read scriptures/write in journal

write on letter to DH

Take out dog/give food and water

scoop litter give food/water

make bed

workout

shower/dress/do hair and makeup

Blog post

dishes

nightly clean up

3 training sessions with dog

brush dog

Wash dog

clip dog nails

sweep/mop tile

Goals for next week

activities for next week

clean both bathrooms

decide on Christmas gifts

figure out what happened to the phone lines

change light blubs

see if I can borrow someones car to pay the electric bill

If I think of anything else Ill add it.

Hi everyone!

Well, I didn't complete everything on my list, but I got to the most important things. It was far from perfect and it was okay. I need to remember not to stress and just to enjoy having company in my home. This is going to be an ongoing lesson for me. I must say, though, that even though I wanted to organize and declutter certain surfaces in my home, I've come far enough along the decluttering journey that it wasn't that bad.

Right now I'm taking it easy and sipping coffee. In a little bit I'll start tackling last night's dinner dishes. :-)

I'm wishing everyone peaceful productivity where we get enough done and are at peace with less than perfect homes. It seems that several of us have had long lists lately.

Easy day here.   Ds's birthday party is this afternoon, so I am keeping things simple until then.  The house is in decent shape, so no pressure to do much anyway.

Done:

made cupcakes

birthday breakfast for the boy

cleaned kitchen

To do:

laundry

make frosting and frost cupcakes

Frugal, food growing mama to my four loves

I don't know what it is about autumn, but I always get this urge to really clean and straighten. It is quite strange.

Anyhow, today I have:

- Washed my dark woollens. I'll do the light ones in a day or two, when the dark ones have dried properly and been put away. I only have so much space for flat drying things. :)

- Washed my favourite red skirt. It was the first time, so it was washed alone. Now I just have to dry it and then iron it, so the pleats become neat again.

- Shined my bathroom and kitchen sinks.

- Wiped down my entire toilet. The bowl is cleaned often enough, but I tend to forget about the nooks and crannies behind it, where dust settles.

- Fluffed my duvet and pillow, and made the bed.

- Plucked and rinsed parsley and put three bags in the freezer (we are harvesting slowly).

- Aired out my bedroom (better make use of the good weather we've been having).

- Emptied and restarted the dishwasher.

- Shined my kitchen sink after dinner.

The rest of my household has achieved:

- The last cutting of the lawn for the season

- Emptied and refilled a dishwasher

- Taken out the compost

- Cooked dinner

On the whole, I am being productive in comparison, no? :P Oh well, better get a move on with that paper that is due for the 25th.

Hello. Today is a low key day. We hope to visit a good friend in her new home. What is a good housewarming gift? I was thinking a plant?

So far I:
*made coffee and breakfast
*read the newspaper
*rewashed a load that I had left in the wash
*took out the trash
*made the bed
*bathed and got dressed
*put things in their place
*got a beautiful vase and cut flowers as the housewarming gift
*visited a friend at her new home

Hi Phatui5

Welcome to the thread, Lovesong!

Ruthiegirl, I hope the party goes well. It's awesome that you didn't have lots of cleaning to do in preparation.

*bejeweled*, I think a plant is a perfect housewarming gift.
