Cleaned out the untensil drawers and book shelves today since DH is away.  He had a tendency to go through the pile and salvage stuff.

40 books to donate

13 old utensils/ doubles/ cheapies going right to the garbage

Plus DS spilled my water all over some magazines and catalogues that DH was saving, so that's another 10 heading to the trash.  Oops

Front hall closet (not that many items, but man is it more organized!)

To consign: 2 scarves, 1 purse

To donate: 1 diaper bag, 3 pairs mittens, 1 scarf

Trash: 1 bag

I also cleaned out my ski boot bag and trashed some pre-historic granola bars (3).  I'm still hoping to get to that pantry this weekend and add a bunch to my total!

Ok, thank goodness for this challenge!  I decided to tackle the pantry tonight (another exciting Saturday night here ROTFLMAO.gif) and found 67 more things to toss, give away or recycle!  Some kitchen gadgets to donate, expired food to toss and cardboard to recycle.  I don't know if I'll make it half-way this week or not, but I'm sure darn close!

I'm really thankful for the challenge too! I don't know if I'll reach 2012 items but it sure has gotten me getting things sorted and purged.

Today I went through several boxes that had been sitting in the bedroom. We moved into this apartment over 2.5 years ago and some of this stuff had been floating around all this time. yikes.gif A good 3 dozen items went in the trash. About a dozen went into the Goodwill box but I'll count those when they leave the house. Plus DH ended up getting a couple cardboard boxes out to the recycling. I love how this challenge and the 10-15 minute cleaning sessions are rubbing off on him!

20 journal articles that I just found in the recycling bin (DH has been cleaning without me knowing) (very conservative estimate, I did not dig through the trash to count them)

Organized the gift wrapping supplies - 12 random boxes and gift bags that were pretty trashed to recycling

It's not much (I mean really not much!) but I got rid of a raggedy quilt that we had on the floor for the kitties. DH had brought it in from our apartment complex giveaway table without looking at it and it ended up having a bunch of not-really-repairable tears and some of the batting was bunched up really badly. I had it on the floor for the cats but they weren't really using it. That one little spot looks much clearer and tidier now, even though it was just the quilt there. I really wanted to cut the quilt into smaller pieces and stitch the edges to make a couple smaller kitty blankets but realized it just wasn't going to happen. Part of decluttering is being realistic, that's for sure!

So, 203/2012. Every little bit helps! thumb.gif

Ugh. My computer had issues in the last month and I lost the complete list of donated items. I wrote 347/2012, which included 60 items of clothing, on January 30th. I've donated so much more since then, but lost a lot of the specifics. I'm going to try to go from memory.

3 tea cups

2 teapots

1 Santa cookie jar

4 glasses

2 sippy cups

3 books

2 baking sheets

2 packs Christmas hooks

1 Irish teddy bear

1 mug

1 rubbermaid tote

Discarded

1 broken glass

1 curtain rod

Current amount: 50/2012

I have two more full bags to consign this week so hopefully I will get rid of a lot of stuff that way. I've cleaned a lot of things out and now I have two huge boxes full of garage sale items. I'm not counting those items until they are actually out of my house though.

I've only been through the kitchen and the kid's old clothes at this point, I'm itching to tackle the living room and the kids' rooms!!

I've still been pretty slowed down the last couple of weeks, but got rid of a few things, plus sold a baby carrier, so that's some money too. I'm currently working on the stuff for the next consignment sale which is in a couple weeks.
-2 pairs of socks with holes trashed
-1 beat up wardrobe box trashed
-1 baby carrier sold + $85.00 smile.gif

716 + 4 = 720

$172,98 + $85.00 = $257.98

More magazines and books from my book shelves, video games, dvds and vhs cassettes from the TV cabinet, and few more odd peices of junk.

I also had to buy body wash for the first time since I got married over 3 years ago.  That means my whole sample collection and stock pile is finally finished.  I used to think it was better to buy tons when stuff is on sale, but I now realize the value of space and not having to store stuff.  Plus, there is always a sale somewhere.  The shampoo and soap samples are starting to dwindle as well!

Ziploc bag--I like to wash and reuse them to save plastic, but this one is starting to age

Almost-empty bottle of spray cleaner

A bunch of other stuff I didn't log or closed my browser window on.

I've only regretted one thing I got rid of so far. We got one of those "make an imprint of your baby's foot" kits for Christmas, and we made the imprint but I got rid of the box. Too late I realized the box would have been perfect to store the finished piece. But if this is the only thing I regret I think I am doing pretty well. Plus this is not so much an attachment to that box specifically as a need to have somewhere to store this thing. Once I find another suitable box, I won't care anymore.

I ventured into the office this evening...such a scary place that I've avoided it thus far.  I only got rid of one stack of papers and found 1 craft and 4 games to donate.  So only 6 items to add to the list, plus one random item chucked from the pantry makes 7.  It's a small start to the disaster that is our office but it's a start.  We're headed out of town for a week on Friday so I likely won't be doing any more de-cluttering until March.
