As I sit here lining out all the various projects and challenges I am planning for the next year I decided to go ahead and start the new thread for this next year for those who are gung ho for a major decluttering challenge. I realize it's a few days early, but now I can have a link to refer back to from my main projects/challenges list!!
So, here we go!! I had to give up on this year's challenge cause of all kinds of stuff, but I totally am planning on making the 2012 goal. I've already got some stuff that needs to go to various places sitting in my garage that will be the start of my 2012 items!!
Wow, way to go ladies! I have not posted in FOREVER!!
This weekend I got rid of 15 pieces of "baby" cutlery from my cutlery drawer. I also got rid of 5 items of expired food from my pantry. Slowly but surely!
Is it too late to join?! My husband and I have been discussing lately the need to simplify and declutter. I know I'll have some major catch-up to do starting this late in the game if I want to meet the goal, but I'm up for the challenge! I have a box of stuff that I packed up yesterday ready to go. I'll have to go count how many items are in there. I've also been trying to de-stash a lot of my hairbows that are left over from craft shows I did last year so selling some of them on facebook has been helping reduce my craft supplies. I desperately need to tackle my closet and get realistic about what I actually wear.
I'm excited to get started!!
UPDATE:
Box contains...
- 3 Ikea wall organizers
- set of coasters
- 1 pair of boots
- 6 toys
- 12 shirts
- 1 rug
- 1 children's plastic picnic table (obviously too big to fit into a box)
Never too late to join I've seen several people take way less than a year to get to 2012 things. Plus it's not about getting 2012 out of your house, it's more about using that as goal to stay motivated and just make progress on your home

Hi, y'all! Love the idea of getting rid of over 2000 things in a year - that's huge! Living in an apartment with 3 other people and a dog, I need to stay on top of the sheer stuff coming in, or it'll be on top of me!
I've spent months searching yard sales, thrift stores, and flea markets for colorful game pieces to decorate this year's Christmas tree. Please, if you have a partial Candyland game you'd like to sell, drop me a line! =)
Ooh, the thought of coming into this challenge over halfway through the year makes me want clean out a closet! Well, almost.
Very motivated and excited today! I was chosen to review on my blog a soon-to-be relased book written by a minimalist. Sooo excited!! Just started reading it this morning and it's inpsiring me so much to rid my life of all the excess. So, here's what we've accomplished so far today (and we haven't even gotten to our bedrooms yet).
12 sanding sponges that are used up, 1 shirt with a giant whole in the arm pit.
