How is your entrance way organized?  Currently we have bags, shoes and socks all over the floor.  We have one set of hooks which we put coats on and an empty doorless closet. Basically a mess with 2 adults and sometimes 4 kids.

I have a white Ikea recycling with a flip open lid at the front which all the shoes get thrown into which works well, we're a family of four. I prefer them to be hidden rather than on show as our front door in our cottage opens straight into our front room, we have no porch/entry way.

We have a very small entryway...an Ikea hook for jackets, purses, etc and a basket underneath for shoes to be kicked off into. On the other side of the wall, I have a box for my donate pile and a spot for other people's stuff that was forgotten here or needs to be returned.

main entrance has a fish tank and kid sized watercoloring desks in front of it, and then another kid sized table off to the side with a drawing paper top. Opposite wall of fish tank is a big open space that we filled by putting in a expedit 16 cube shelf that holds mostly art supplies. We don't use the front entrance much though so that's why the kids art stuff is there. We use our garage entrance and that's where we keep shoes, and backpacks..it's not a pretty sight.

My first thought: Have you considered converting that empty doorless closet into shelves? We have a column of shelves set into the wall across from our front door, and it really helps with the front-door clutter.
