I'm clearing out as much as possible to make my house more manageable. I'm getting rid of a bunch of coats - most of which I was given for free.  I could really use the money, but I just don't have the energy to sell them. Should I just donate them? Or should I hold on to them to sell when/if I ever get the energy/time?

Thanks for the advice!

Are the coats from well-known brands?  How much do you think you could get for each one if you were to sell them?

I always lean towards just donating the coats to get the clutter cleared out quickly.  However, if they are particularly valuable coats, then I would consider selling them.

I think I've decided to just donate. As much as I need the money, I can't do it and I need to get rid of them. They're Jacob, Amor Jeans, Bonfire Snowboards brands. I'm clueless about brands and costs, so it would require too much work. I'm feeling low these days and I think the decluttering will help.

Thansk!

Can you take them to a consignment shop? You can get rid of them and get $. Maybe not as much as selling yourself.

I just donated them all. Loads of clothes. nice clothes. But I feel better. I'm letting go of the money potential. I don't have a car so getting them to a store is a big chore. And there is a place to donate just steps from my door.

Thank you for letting me work this out here :)

It feels great doesn't it? You will find your house less work every time you clear things out. It is great feedback to keep us on the lookout for new things to give away or sell.

That's what I was going to suggest too.  Even when I need the money, I usually don't get as much for whatever I'm trying to sell as I imagined I would, and there's the added hassle.  Unless something is clearly valuable it's much better to just donate.  What saves more money is not buying anything new in the first place.  :)
