time for new resolutions .... have decided i'll do a few more 10-15 min. sessions through the day in 2014 !
i know that if i'll post about it here, i'll feel a bit better about it & am more likely to stick to having a go at my weekly and monthly tasks (which are nicely printed in a folder, it's just that i don't get around to doing them much ....)
this morning i
- swept and mopped the kitchen floor
- vaccumed a bit
late afternoon i
- wiped part of the tiles and furniture in the bathroom whilst i was running a bath (all the toothpaste projection marks irritated me ...)
am not counting my "daily tasks" in these sessions, since i'm now usually ok doing them regularly ( wipe toilet seat, wash up and shine sink, one load of laundy, un-hang and fold whatever is dry, then in the evening, wipe inside of washbassin and inside of the bathtub ...)
my plans for tomorrow = start on doors and door frames (haven't done them in ages, i can see marks on them ... but i always seem "not to have the time now" ....)
well ... didn't do much cleaning nor decluttering ... baking instead & went to the park to meet up a family not seen in 2.5 years ... (and share the baked stuff with)
didn't take the bus & managed to get the children to walk (bribing them with an ice cream on the way ....)
I would love to join this thread. A while back I also started on the Motivated Moms thread! I used that checklist for a year or two, somewhat sporadically. Now circumstances have pushed me into doing 10-15 min. at a time because that is all I have, but I think it will work better for me like this anyway. (DH is fantastic with housework; I am the one who struggles.) When school starts I will be juggling getting 2 kids to and from school and activities, more-or-less full-time freelancing, plus a new puppy (we also have 2 cats). Anyway, this sounds just like the ticket to keeping the house in order, especially since I have always had a problem with "going big or going home" with cleaning and decluttering and then never really getting around to it. Now, to stick with it!! And I hear you, IsaFrench, on the having good intentions watching TV and then getting caught up in it!
The last couple of days I have done the following (also not including daily routines - we collectively keep the kitchen clean, DH vacuums at least every other day):
* Took a couple of bags of clothes to the donation place
* Bleached bathtub, washed shower curtain
* Cleaned out a couple of kitchen drawers
* Swept and straightened laundry area
* Bought DD2's school supplies (yay, starting early - they had everything at one store, whew)
Hi guys! I used to participate in these threads a few years ago. I have a guest coming tonight and have things I absolutely must get done, so I'm jumping in. I have to make a list though, of things to work on in my 15 minute sessions, so that I can stay on track.
1) Clear counters, putting things on them away.
2) Wash dishes.
3) Clean counters and table.
4) Sweep and mop kitchen and both bathrooms.
5) Vacuum master bedroom, living/dining areas and hallway.
6) Wash and put away lunch dishes.
7) Clean both bathrooms.
8) Unpack the remaining boxes.
have been mostly out and about so just managed two loads and all the washin up + shinning the sink
but barely the rest
tomorrow i must
- clean the toilet properly, about 5 min
- wipe most of the bathroom, about 15 min
- sweep and mop the kitchen (10 minutes ?)
DH insisted to have a dish that made the oven disgusting last night (we had guests) but i haven't got round to cleaning it properly yet
... although i used it to bake two trays of bite size small pastries tonight
remembering as the oven was heating .... that i hated that smell last night ....
(kind neighbor from upstairs dropped by to leave some of their home made end of ramadan pastries ....
so i just wanted to return his cleaned plate ... with some of my home made pastry, as a thank you;
he's off on holiday to visit relatives tomorrow, so it was a good thing i didn't delay ....)
Today's big adventure is cleaning out the car. This is going to take FOREVER. At least it's getting a really good cleaning, detailing as I go though. I have the entire trunk area finished so far. Just two more sections to go. Not sure I'll get much else done today.
Not much cleaning these past few days - we are doing some budgeting stuff and working on getting a new cell phone plan, which takes an amazingly long time due to the difficulty of comparing the various options. Ugh!
I've done some decluttering today and minimal daily cleaning. I got a box eliminated in the bathroom and went through 4 boxes in the bedroom. I'm fighting off a headache though so I'm nearing done.
DH did a cleaning session today - washed the floors. Dog was sick and cats were unhappy
I didn't clean, but kept up with dishes and ran the car over for an oil change, plus booked a flight we needed, so things are getting checked off the to-do list, just not cleaning!
On my part 15min cleaning is not enough. I am very on-hand on household chores. I want everything to be perfectly done. Because being a mother means that u have to do everything for your family. :thumb
Nope, it isn't! But for me, aiming for 15 min. and accomplishing something small is better than my previous approach of waiting for a big chunk of time to do the job perfectly - which never came - and getting next to nothing accomplished.
managed to wipe vertical surfaces in kitchen this am (about 15 min !)
plus yesterday did 3 shelves in the fridge
have just booked a week holiday in a mobile home somewhere with a heated pool + things to do for youngesters = hoping to be able to relax a bit
(although i suppose we have to clean the accomodation before we leave ....)
now ... waiting for the confirmation of the car rental to come to our e-mail .....
decluttering is hardly progressing but am in a better mood these days ... got myself a "new to me" book called "houseworks" ... i find it more motivating than any i had baught previously ...

this is truly a great thread! every day i look at my flat and think what i can clean/wash/etc for 15-20 min. It really helps! I used to spend the whole day every week for cleaning my flat. I felt incredibly tired after the whole day of house wrok. And now i do little things during the week and don't feel tired any more;-) :x
didn't do much "extra cleaning" today besides daily tasks ... but baked a cake (half chocolate half banana) which i shared between several people
also tought one of my sisters to bake some bite size little almond pastries in the morning
+ visited a friend this afternoon
+ cooked for guests tonight & just made a batch of cinnamon cookies for the children tomorrow ...
Ended up doing four more sessions of 15 mins each.
-vacuumed the rest of the apartment since the vacuum cleaner was out already
-dug out my kitchen from under a mountain of dirty dishes
-cleaned master bath
third load of laundry today (daily/towels/soft toys from DD2 bed)
did food shopping and am cooking in advance for future meals
am starting packing for our week long trip (various cleaning fluids in old bottles, with just 1-2 cm of product in the bottom of the bottle)
since we'll have to leave the cabin in a reasonnably clean condition by the end of the week
don't think i'm doing to do much laundry this coming week though ...
should have internet access but might not post much until the 17th ....
Today i spent 30 minutes at my " beauty area" - dressing table. I examined all the bottles, creams, etc for expiry dates. Had to throw away lots of cosmetics! I am a maniac when it comes to shopping;-))
