My dryer has a faint fishy smell. I don't know if it's from the diapers (which also smell like fish). I don't know which came first....but I can't get rid of it. Do I need a new dryer?

Has anyone else had this fishy dryer problem?
Should I post this in diapering too?

Thanks!

Could the dryer vent be clogged? This is really gross, but my dryer had a nasty, nasty smell once, and it turned out that the vent was clogged-- by a dead MOUSE. Yuck.... So maybe you should check the vent.

Sorry, I know that's gross, and probably with a fishy smell that's not it at all, but the only thing I can think of is a clogged vent.

I don't think you need a new dryer, though.

This website may help in terms of taking things apart and cleaning:

http://www.repairclinic.com/0088_8_1.asp

It has helped us do many costly repairs at home by ourselves. That link above talks about smelly clothes and dryers. The other day, we took our dryer apart for maintenance and it will literally FILLED with lint. This is a fire hazard and we got lucky that it didn't cause a fire. I was very very good about cleaning the lint trap but it still gets inside the machine and over time it sticks everywhere. So you may wish to do this and check the ducts too.

Hope it helps you!

Do you use diaper ointment, like Desitin? It contains fish oil...that could be your issue.

Ok..i'm going to go check the vent.

I don't use diaper creams, but I do eat fish on occasion.

I'm going to try some bs or a vinagar-soaked towel (and dry it). I got this from another post.

Thanks all...
