After what can only be called The Apple Picking Fiasco, I am determined to set up a family command center/bulletin board and calendar in our kitchen.

Before I go shopping, can you tell me how you arranged yours? Any special tips? Magnets vs. tacks? Size? Shape?

Hey Dodo! : Do I know about the apple picking fiasco? I have the same dream, of having a desk-area command center. It would not be able to be in our kitchen, however, but off the kitchen. I am in search of a large, old & crusty secretary-type desk.

Have you seen those magnetized bulletin-boards? I think a bulletin board can get disorganized, too, if it's not kept in check. Hmmmmmm? I'll be checking back...

Hi I have a large bulletin board in our kitchen for all the art work. In our hall I have 2 smaller bulletin boards . I keep them near the calander. It s also near the phone , so when Im on the phone I can scan the boards and get rid of anything old ect. It works out great. I keep all doctor , dentist appoinment cards on a smaller board. Oh yeah, I love bulletin boards. Good Luck with your cammand center.

I am planning on going with the magnetized bulletin boards. At this point, I'm thinking of doing several smaller ones, side by side: one for the calendar, one for to-do lists and one for bills and things requiring immediate attention. Art goes on the wall or on the fridge.

The apple picking fiasco is what you call it when the administrator of your child's daycare calls you at 9am to ask about your child, because a busload of 43 children and six teachers is waiting for her, and you swipe your child from the breakfast table, ignoring the fact that there is egg on her face and that she is as inappropriately dressed as she can be for an outing in the country, and haul her out the door and drag her to a cab stand down the block none too gently.
