I sent a bunch of Time Magazines to the recycle bin. I kept stacking them up, thinking I'd read them. But I know I won't have time until after my class is over, which is mid-December! They'll be even more out of date.

Running total: 12

I've spotted some more decluttering opportunities in the basement and bedroom, maybe I can hit 25 or 30 by Sunday night.

I got rid of a huge bag of clothes and stuff today! I would say it had about 40 more Items and then I got home and added 13 more items. I am hopefully going to add to that tomorrow. Iwould say in all I am almost up to 100 items.

I'm back. I got rid of about 20 stuffed animals and 8 noisy toys. I also went through my closet and got a trash bag full of stuff. This will all go to my mil who will take it to a thrift store run by a nun. I'm still going strong...

Total 28/70

3 paper grocery bags full of junk from the file cabinet!!! and 2 sets of placemats added to the thrift store box.

It feels SO good to get the file cabinet pared down.

I started last night after my dd went to bed. I got one garbage bag full of clothes for the goodwill (at least 40 items). One bag of clothes to get thrown out (about 30), and started on one bag of just "things" to give to the goodwill (about 10 items so far). I kind of got hung up in clearing out and lost count. But I'll have more tomorrow. DD's dad is coming to take her for the day and that will give me a chance to clear out some more stuff.

My new total is now 40, however, we are going to tackle the bookcases and CD towers today.

Anyone know of anyplace online where you can resell CDs, DVDs, VHS, etc? If anyone has experience (good or bad) with someplace specific, please let me know!

TIA!

During DD's bath, I decluttered the bathroom cabinet. Found old medicines, half-used rolls of toilet paper, trash (?), recycling. So up to 20 now.

I have sold loads of books, movies, etc. on Amazon. You can sell used stuff, and there's no listing charge/commission unless your item sells. I only list things that have a reasonable going price.

GL!

I think I'll try there before eBay. I was going to look around for a local used bookstore first.

Thanks for the idea!

We just finished the CDs -- UGH!!! We have a ton to sell. I'm going to have to compile the artists/titles. I can get back to you with the list if you're truely interested. Will acquiring CDs count against your decluttering total?

Two things that helped me this week----planned a dinner party for DH's birthday--so I HAD to clean--(and cook--and cook---)
and sister had baby shower so I had someone to give baby stuff to.

Cleared off my wooden shelf on wheels--antique bakers rack, I think--that had mail on it from 2 years ago!!!!! All gone. So much of the stuff there was junk--just needed the incentive to clear it. Big paper bag of papers gone & trash bag of junk--gone!!!
Dining room table cleared. Kitchen island cleared.

To my sister 2 slings---baby bjorn & two bags of clothes--dipes etc

im in! i need major motivation! with the baby due in 4 weeks and me in such ligament pain, i am just not motivated to do anything lately. but i really need to, so i will be in. i dont know if it will be good for me to set my goal at a certain number rather than accomplish whats on my list (attic clothes either on TP or ebay, basement - our home offices - organized and my books cataloged).
we are both book collectors so we dont normally get rid of books but i am thinking of getting rid of some that i dont think will be worth anything one day (you woudl be surprised) or ones that dont have any special meaning. that will still leave thousands! lol!
glad i found this!

I've been at this all weekend and today...finally getting somewhere!

at least 40 items to the trash and another 40 to the donation stack- the best part is I'm actually getting things back to their "right" home!

80/150

Well, this has been inspiring! So far:

One mini fridge
2 pairs of shoes
20 or so baby outfits
15 books
A batch of hangers

So, we're up to 39/150. I've got another group of stuff ready to be donated. I just found out my local thrift shop takes books, which makes for convenient one-stop donating!

On Sunday I got rid of 2 broken blinds, 2 appliance boxes from the basement, and a pile of paper from the 'to file' pile. And I filed a bunch of stuff.

25/150. I guess I need to get a move on!

Sold 3 books on Craig's list and mailed them today. Threw away a huge stack of papers - I'm going to count that as 1 item.

New total: 66

I'm off to list some more things on freecycle.

i have such a hard time with doing things physically right now but i had to go to the basement to wait for some furniture to be delivered. i cleaned the cans out of the garage (kids are sooo lazy) and got rid of 2 garbage bags full of trash. i threw out 2 pair of shoes that my older son was keeping "just in case"...so i am going to count this (2 gb's, 2 shoes, countless soda cans) as 5.
so, i will stick to the 150 but i may have to count more carefully from now on since at this rate i will NEVER get to 150!
5/150 on my first day. at least i started! lol!

OK, today was good. I gave teh following away to freecyclers:

teflon pan
misc measuring cups
utility knives
steak knives
spoon rest
computer monitor

I'm over my 150 goal, technically. We cleaned out the books, VHS and CD cabinets on SAt/Sun. I had over 110 CDs alone to sell. (I'm going to try secondspin.com)

Anyway, I'm counting CDs, books and VHS as only 1 each, so my new total is 49.

Well I'm late but I'll join! I've been apathetic about housework lately. I need this jumpstart. I start in the morning.

Last night I threw several things out of the downstairs medicine cabinet. And tonight I got sidetracked in the kitchen cabinets. But, I'm up to 40/150.

I guess if we could get to the recycling center, we could add that in too.

I'm in! I need a swift kick in the rear end to get this place in shape for the holidays!

Today I freecycled 6 movies and one coat. Also got a huge trash bag full of clothes ready to go to Goodwill. Yeah!
So.. I think I'm up to about 27.
We're having all of our carpeting replaced and I'm so embarassed about the clutter, so that's another motivational factor for me
