Help....
How do I convince dh to get rid of redudant appliances and their boxes?
HE LIKES TO KEEP EVERY FREAKING PRODUCT BOX...sadly half of which products we don't own.

But how do I convince him to donate these extras?
what comeback could I have? do we possibly need more than one?

8 might be enough

If you have a house with stairs, I can see two vaccuums - one for up, one for down. Swiffers...not so much, although they seem more benign.

Does he buy them on sale? Does someone give them to him? How's he collecting these? If it's just an accumulation, and not a problem of constantly buying more, I think it's ok to tell him it's time to clear out and he can pick the crappiest one of whatever and you'll donate it.

If he's buying them, you need to figure out why and convince him it's not a good choice, I guess.

Confession. I own 2 swiffers and wish I had one of the oversized kind. Anytime I start to sweep (with my plain ole broom), the girls each grab a swiffer and 'mop' with them. I've shortened them to the appropriate heights for each dd. Now, when I want to swiffer, war breaks out. Not enough to go around.

Three vacuums, though... I don't know that I can help you there. Can't justify it with children helping b/c mine run for the hills whenever I pull the monster out of the closet. And I'm no good with talking dhs out of weird attachments if they won't listen to reason. It's an awful can-can girls necktie from the 1970s here. At least it's small and easy to hide.

Out of curiosity, where do you keep the extra vacuums?

Ask him why he wants to keep them. Tell him why you don't. If rational disscussion discussion doesn't work, then do a trade. "Sure honey, you can play poker tonight, if I can donate that vacuum." I find a fun flirty tone and a big smile when making a trade to be very effective.

He can have as many vacuums as he wants....if he's the one who uses them and the one who puts them away.

Does he really know how many and where they are? I would be really tempted to just clean them up when he's not around...
