Okay, I am up to 220/500 after tackling the kitchen & part of the playarea/craft room. I don't know if I am going to make the 500, but every little bit helps

Probably won't make it to 500 this month, but I'm glad about every bit of progress. Went through the kitchen "junk drawer" again and tossed 30 items.

Current total: 81/500

I totally have the "dh not on board with this" issue.

Exersaucer Freecycled! That's a big deal for me, I'm still not 100% sure I won't want another baby, though my DH is. I'm having a hard time getting rid of baby things, even though the odds I'll need it again are like, 2%

Me too. But I am getting him to come around. Slowly. I think the key was persevering and going about the challenge anyway. I would schedule donation pickups and tell him VVA was coming. I would run around the house every two weeks for recycling day and gather up every single scrap of paper I could find to chuck out. I would update him of my total every flipping day.

In the beginning he met me with complete resistance. When I gathered a big box of old newspapers I found in the back corner of his closet he took them out of the recycling and hid them someplace else. He would ask me annoying questions like Are you getting rid of any of my stuff? And truthfully I wasn't. I was getting rid of my own clutter. Old clothes and books and whatnot. He actually noticed and commented that my dresser was cleaner.

Today we hit a major milestone. He actually joined in the cleaning with me. I wanted to work on the disaster that is our basement and asked him to come and help and he did. He used to go through a box of say books and pull two out to get rid of. Today he went through and only saved two. And barely looked through two boxes of old audio tapes before tossing them.

At one point he turned to me and said - "This is really hard for me because I'm such a packrat." I understand, I was too. But I'm at the point now where getting rid of stuff feels good. He told me he wants to get there too.

We got so much done today, but I hate to add anything to my total until it actually leaves the house. So tomorrow night or Monday.

Yay! I can finally come back to this thread! I've been getting rid of things all month, but finally dropped them at Goodwill today

1 wallet
6 small toys
1 book
1 bag of art supplies (not washable )
2 pairs shoes
1 plaid duvet cover
6 jello molds
1 boardgame
1 inflatable mattress
1 foot pump
1 camera case
1 boppy
1 small basket
1 hair trimmer
1 bag hair accessories
4 small travel cases
1 panda mask
8 wooden doorknob hangers
8 wooden hangers
1 lego set
1 answering machine
35 phonics books
1 small frame
1 ABC game
1 step stool
1 sweatshirt
1 crib mobile
1 tic tac toe game
1 bag megablocs
2 tshirts
1 attache folder
1 chess set

95 items! Plus one shirt sold on ebay, so 96 total. Oh why did I do such a big purge at the end of October? I should have saved that stuff for my 500.

Oh! We also have a bag of dvds for the used music/movie store. But I won't count that until they are gone.

I have the sneaking suspicion that for most of us, our number is about to increase greatly over the long weekend

I figured I would take the nov month off from decluttering but now I am thinking of Jan when you take the holiday stuff down too!

glad this is working for you ladies. I also think the long weekend will bring great clutter to outside of your home!

4 boxes of books donated yesterday.

I had 5 more, plus some old furniture and some clothes to donate, but Dh didn't bring them up the basement stairs. : I'm too pregnant to do it myself. So it will just have to wait until next week's pickup.

522/500
(I'm counting the books separately because they weren't whole boxes just set out. They had to be sorted through and divided up. I'm also just estimating at 40 books a box. In reality it was probably many many more. We literally have a library in our house.)
