Went trhough our movies and dvds, got rid of like 85 items in those two boxes. We got two cd folders and I didn't fill either of them even halfway. And if I could add the clutter that I ended up putting away, since there was a stack of cds and a stack of movies that were getting super abused from my girls, if I could add that it would be another 40. But I am not adding that. I also made up a bag to give to a friend who is also pregnant. It is a bunch of maternity clothes that don't fit so well, so my total so far today, 120. I am going to go through more today also. Oh that also includes a stack of paper bags that we recycled. Now we are only keeping like 10, there is no need to have 50 in our car when we forget to bring them into the store half the time. So we have 10 in the car right now and recycled the rest, felt good and made the back of the car look much better It feels so good

I just did a quick skim off my bookshelf. First, amazing to see how much garbage was there!!!! Adding 60 items to my total. I am so hoping that my dh will be able to let go of a few more. And maybe, just maybe those two boxes of boating magazines that I don't think he has looked at in over 2 years...

And one more. I threw out the girls old hamper, it was just one of those net ones. I replaced it with a newer one that we haven't even started using yet.

My first update 390/400!!! And I have my eye on the last items to reach my goal. I thought I was stretching it, but this has been easy. Just looking in the nooks and crannies that I usually ignore. We're on our way to an uncluttered house!

My goal is 250 items and I'm at 218. Funnest items I've decluttered are those swapped to other MDC mamas. Selling and returning items for $$$ has also been great. Hardest have been kids' artwork pieces. I have really tried to focus on keeping a meaningful sample of their artwork and putting it in binders so that we can all enjoy it, rather than keeping everything and having it end up thrown in a box. Still, I find this is the hardest area for me to let things go.

Everyone is doing so well! Yeah for us!

I have surpased my goal of 1200 items and I just can't stop! We are getting ready to move and I have the desire to move nothing that we don't love or use into our new house. So far, I am making great progress toward that goal. Plus, I've been making money selling things at the local consingment store, on MDC TP, at the used book store, the used CD store. So, its been a nice reward for my work.

Everyone is doing great! This decluttering is addictive!

I know I've surpassed my goal, but since I haven't had time to update here, I haven't kept track of what I've gotten rid of so I'm sure I'm missing a lot. What I can remember:

freecycled today- 2 wonderful books that we were just not going to read
1 baby photo album that again, was great, but just didn't need it.

cleaned out silverware drawer- probably 10 items thrown out

5 items of outgrown baby clothes

1 box of baby oatmeal that I never needed, given away

gallon ziploc of christmas decorations that just weren't that meaningful- I'll say 15 items

2 more kids dvd's we weren't watching

3 phone books- delivered, then immediately put in the recycling! Obsolete!

1 toy

299/300

Oh! And this was so awesome! Driving all the bags of stuff to the thrift store was on my list of things to do, and one morning last week I happened to glance outside, and the truck was driving down the street!!! I went outside and stopped the guy and he came and took all my bags of junk! The timing couldn't have been more perfect, and it took no effort from me!

Haven't done much since my initial binge decluttering. This all-day sickness is slowing me down! LOL

But today, I managed to do something easy - clear out some old magazines from 2004. Got rid of about 8 magazines.

That brings my total up to: 204!

So I reached my goal!!

Finally updating. We are slowly getting rid of stuff. Glad I didn't set my total for the month too high.

Gave away:
2 prs pants
3 tops
1 pr boots
cutting board
oil for cutting board
measuring cup
mug
spatula
juice container
hand blender
ladle
ice tray
one of those things you use to pound meat (clearly I don't need it if I don't know what it's called)

Recycled:
2 huge boxes from appliances we bought months ago
the insurance information from 2003 and 2004 for the car

So: 18 more things, bringing me to 112/150.

I guess we'd better get busy this weekend! Although I have a volleyball tournament so I'm not sure how that's going to happen.

Today was a HUUUUUGE day, and it's only 8:10am! I have the day off, so I may add to this list quite a bit today. I was contacted by the Cerebral Palsy foundation last week, asking if I had anything I could donate. I laughed, because I already had several bags of clothing ready to go. So, sitting out in my driveway waiting for pickup are:

-3 large garbage bags crammed full of clothing (already counted in a previous count)
-1 box of shoes (already counted)
-1 box of coats (a few of which I was planning on selling, but decided donating is nicer - and easier!)

-a mixer
-a coffee maker
-coffee filters for the coffee maker
-1 set of dishes
-1 set of cups
-1 set of large cooking utensils
-2 large mixing bowls
-1 collander
-1 salad bowl
-87 toys
-27 articles of clothing (a box I found in the garage that I intended on getting rid of about 4 years ago!)
-1 printer
-1 vcr with remote
-17 VHS tapes

My total to date:
515!!
