This is so addicting! And as a bonus, my dh is loving me. He hates clutter and this is making him a very happy man

Took 3 bags of books to the trunk of my car to drop at the used book store tomorrow. Met with my old teacher friends for happy hour and handed off 6 teacher books for them to use.

Ok got some more done today. The dining room, the entry closet and the laundry room i got rid of 135 things. That puts me at 295. I am so happy I was able to get that much done today. Oh and I also cleaned out the fridge and counted some of that.

I have another bag of clothes for Goodwill, as well as a huge and ugly shoe rack, as I have more closet space in my new place.

Oh yeah, when I left I also chucked out one of those gigantic three wheel fake Toys R Us jogging strollers. I've kept that bloody thing for three years becoz I spent so much money on it, but man it was my stupidest baby purchase of all time. What a giant, ostentatious, ridiculous piece of crap.

Hopefully some yuppy mama or papa will be very happy with it.

Woohoo! Another item sold. Granted it makes us feel like idiots for spending that much on a vacuum, using it for a month, deciding we hated it and not returning it even though we had another 2 months to do so, and then selling it for 25% of what we paid for it, but I'll take what I can get.

Sold: 1 vacuum
Sally Ann: 2 tank tops (going back to work = going back to the gym at lunch, so I've had to reevaluate some of my workout wear)
1 ladle

New Grand Total: 40/150

I'm working on the garage right now which is full of the stuff that didn't get sold at all the yardsales i did in 2006. I'm going through it all deciding if the profit is really worth the trouble when it is so easy to give it away yk?

DH and I took cans and bottles back last night, 29 of them, bringing my grand total to 149/300 - halfway there!

It looks like I may have set my goal way too low (I had no idea what 300 things looked like!), so I think if I've met it by the 15th, then I'll be pushing it up to 500. So far I've only decluttered the pantry, front closet, hall closet, and kitchen cupboards and drawers. I haven't even begun to attack our spare room, which is where all the "junk" actually is. 500 should not be a problem!

thank you everybody for the support - it certainly renewed me. i finally was able to bag up everything i have purged and have it sitting outside to go to the goodwill. as soon as dh gets home, we are taking it. so, from the right side of my kitchen and two linen closets i have 92 items - it boggles the mind when dh gets home, he won't have to work anymore today, so he can play with ds while i do more cleaning out. i think i am definitely regaining steam...

Well, I have made it maybe half way through that room that I have been throwing junk into. I lost count, but I know I at least have 125. That is all I am going to count. I threw away so many small things. I have one big trash bag and one big box. I unfortunately cant get it out though, something about being int he thrid trimester. I think I can get the trash bag out, and really i want to get it out before my dh comes home But the box, there is just no way, that is going to goodwill when he comes home. I may tape it shut though. He just likes to go through and make sure that I haven't thrown away anything that we might want to keep. WE HAVEN'T!!!! So I am upping my goal to 500. If it goes this well, then maybe it will get upped again. Still trying to get rid of that couch. I have tried moving it to 3 different places and it just BUGS me, so seriously much. But I feel good with what I have gotten done so far today. taking al ittle break, eating something and may get started again. I want to get as much done as I can without husband here

I am sad. I have to stop. My trash can is full. I went through my craft stuff. Donated all old patterns, threw out old paint, got rid of all sewing stuff. I really can't sew anyway. So another 150 items. And like I said no more will fit in my trash. Trash day is Wednesday. The other sad thing is that I did the basement and you almost really can't tell. I did the easy stuff. And I should stop today, but I might go back down there one more time and see if there is just stuff I can take to goodwill. I only have half of a box that I can fill then I am out of boxes also. I need to find some more. Or put what I can in trash bags. I don't feel as light as I think I should feel yet though. But I am happy that I could look at things and say, when was the last time I used this?
edited to add, i think i am seeing why some people have 1000 items to get rid of. I mean it is only the 6th and just today I have gotten rid of 275 items. May have to up my total again...

I'm giving myself a mini challenge for the week. My mom will be here for a few days, so we are going to work together to declutter my kitchen. I need to get rid of all the stuff I don't use, utensils, pots, pans, appliances just taking up space.

Been a busy couple of days so not a ton of decluttering happening, but yesterday I tackled a couple of drawers in my bathroom and easily tossed 50+ items. How did they all get in there?!? And today I tackled the girls books, packed most of the "baby" stuff away for next summer/fall, passed on a huge box of the ones I don't really like, and actually had to recycle a couple that were falling completely apart from overuse. I suppose the ones I recycled don't count since I'll probably replace them with new copies. These are my 3yo's favorites and this kid can spend hours and hours flipping through books.

Tomorrow, I'm hoping to tackle my fabric stash, but I'm not sure if I'll be up for it. Eeek!!!

Mama to three sweet girls (a dramatic, chatty 10yo, a bouncy, dynamo of a 7yo, and a delightful, whimsical 3.5yo)

i found a useless trinket to give away and put it in the pantry.

i posted my kiss figures that i don't play with anymore to the tp.

i need to go post dh's x-box. although i'm not sure how sure he is that he really wants to sell it.

i need to call my local "shopper" (the bargain hunter) and sell my drumset. CHEAP

I took 20 magazines to the library to put in the magazine exchange box. I still have a bunch more to take but they are too heavy to take all at once.

Total 75/200

(DH is messing up my count because he keeps tossing things when I am not around. )
