Just found this good info and thought I would pass it along:

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) offers a convenient way to recycle old computers and electronics: At Home Computer/Electronics Program, an option for residents who prefer to have their equipment picked up from their front steps.

To arrange a pickup, email athome@swancc.org or call (847) 724-9205.
Bi-weekly pick-ups will be scheduled from April 30 through August 31. Residents will be charged $25 via credit or debit card to offset program costs and can recycle up to six items per pick up

No individual item can exceed 50 lbs. Items accepted but do not count as "an item" include cell phones and calculators only.

The program collects desktop or notebook computers (including mouse, keyboard and power cords), monitors, printers, scanners, fax machines, electric typewriters, answering machines, shredders, postage machines, televisions (up to 20"), VHS/DVD Players, boom boxes, stereo equipment and microwaves.

Yes: check out this link: http://www.swancc.org/recycling/comp...recycling.html

It looks like they have permanent drop-off locations, which may involve a fee, and then they also schedule once-a-year drop off days with no fee.

Perfect timing. We were hit by lightening awhile back and lost a lot of electronics and I didn't want them just sitting in a landfill so we still have them.

Yippee, now I can get rid of them.
