Another 22 items. Total now 155/500. I can't believe I've gotten rid of over 1000 things the past few months & I still have so much stuff here. I feel like this will never end. :

I'm in and going for 300. For some reason this item counting goal is very inspiring and gratifying. I need to count all the clothes--probably about 100 items--and got rid of a 2" stack of junky photos. I guess I'll just say I'm at about 102, so keeping good pace for the month. Still lots more stuff to get rid of though. Thanks for the support and good ideas! Good luck to you all.

That's because . . . it will never end. It's part of life, yk? It's something I have a hard time coming to terms with on bad days but most of the time I'm good with it. There will always be more dishes to wash, more laundry to do, more things to declutter (because even if you get all the clutter out of your house your kids will grow out of their clothes and out grow their old toys, adults will get new hobbies and fashions will go out of style). Yeah, it never ends.

I don't mean that to be depressing though. Get rid of that cloudy smile It's just the way it is. It's life But if we keep on top of it, instead of letting it get out of control, then it will be a tiny part of life and not the overwhelming thing it is when we ignore it and pretend we don't have to do anything.

Though I have to say y'all are kicking my butt :

Hi everyone, I am joining in a little late. I just cleared 2 rooms so my kids can have their own bedroom. My dd will be 2 soon so alllll the baby stuff is going; its in the garage ready to ge gone through by my friends with newborns then off to donate. There is soo much I am not going to count every item.
So my challenge for myself this month is to declutter my bedroom closet and dresser, the coat closet by the front door, the mantle and living room book shelf.
June is pretty busy for me so I think thats all I will be able to handle.
Thanks!

I haven't had time to post in a while! Tonight DH and I cleared 20 items out of the pantry. In addition, I am counting each hour clearing out old receipts and paperwork as one item decluttered and I have 4 hours so far this week.

So I'm at 147/500!!!

Hi all,

I need to be in--we're moving in two weeks, and I have a bunch of junk to get rid of. I think I'll set the goal at 100.

11 huge bins' worth of stuff donated! I have no idea how many individual items, but definately in the hundreds.

Mom to DD1 (11/1999),  DD2 (07/2003), and DS (11/2012), all born at home and cloth diapered.

I managed to get out 2 huge garbage bags of toys from my DS room. So that's about 50 items.

Next is DS clothes as soon as it is done in the laundry

For now, I'm off to go through his shoes and bedding. I'm sure he can live with 2 sheet sets instead of 5. While I'm at it, I may as well go through his thousands of blankets.

26 more things out of the storage room/closet thingy

266/500

I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface. The amount of junk still in this house is overwhelming.

Today I'm at 15/100. It's a start, I guess. DH did some decluttering, too, but I lost track of what he tossed, so I'm not going to count that.

I emptied & shredded the contents of 2 binders (ancient financial statements) and gave away 8 canning jars. That brings my total to 165/500. I think I need to pick up the pace! I plan to start those filing cabinets today (or maybe tomorrow )

Oops I forgot I also tossed 5 gross things from the fridge. I'll count that, too. 170/500

Thanks for the pep talk.

I finished one filing cabinet drawer & booted a big box of old warrantees, papers, etc. And I convinced dh to take some bug sprays to work and to return a pile of magazines he borrowed from a friend. So a big box, probably 20 magazines, and 4 bug sprays. I'll just count 10 for the whole lot. 180/500

I traded 4 cd's for a skirt and got the skirt in the mail today. It doesn't fit!! : So now I have one more thing to add to the pile. : :

I sent off a box of 9 items in a trade for diapers. I'm not counting the diapers because we need them, so that makes my total is 16/100. Not much.

I have 2 more items to send off that I stupidly forgot to put in the box. That means MORE wasted money on shipping, and this week is already a "poor week." :

We have to move at the end of July, and we have so much STUFF it's just overwhelming. I'm waiting on my mom to bring some boxes so we can get packing; right now it's at a standstill and the house is SO chaotic.

I have to say posting here to meet my goal really motivates me. Thank you!!

So I added another 6 items: 3 expired vitamins, 1 photo album that was practically empty yet taking up space on our shelf, 1 pack-n-play to Freecycle, 1 pan that my egg stuck in this morning FOR THE LAST TIME

Today's the first day I'm really getting into it, so I have a late start.

Cleaned out some stuff from the kitchen: 10/200.

I have 2 items waiting to be picked up by Freecyclers and I'll be giving at least 50 items to a charity coming by Thursday. I want them to hurry up and come so I can add the items to my count!

I'm up to 34/100. (At least, I think my goal was 100. I actually hope to far exceed that!) Today's haul includes a bunch of unworn what-was-I-thinking clothes to the thrift store, and some tools to Freecycle.

Between our yardsale, and unloading ALL of the baby stuff on a grateful soon-to-be momma, we got rid of over 2000 items. I won't list them all, lest I crash MDC with my post. But the short version is:

-a ladder
-TV and stand
-entire bedroom set
-5 boxes of toys
-10 boxes of baby clothes
-1 box of maternity clothes
-vaccuum cleaner
-2 or 3 boxes of books
-a few ride-on toys
-a few larger toys

Plus a ton of other random stuff (decorations, printers - why did we have 4?? - stereo equipment, scanner....etc. etc. etc.) We made about $300 on the "big ticket" items at the yardsale, and were able to find a good home for all of the baby stuff (including my cloth diapers - the momma seemed very interested in trying them out!)

Our city is having a "Put your junk in your front yard with a "free" sign" event this weekend that we're definitely going to take advantage of. I'm hoping to unload everything else. Anything that doesn't get picked up, we'll arrange to have donated to a local charity that does pick-ups.

So yeah! I'm very confident we'll hit the 3000 mark this month. Which is good. Because we're moving in EIGHT DAYS, and simply do not have room for 90% of our crap!

What city are you in? You might find me rummaging around your yard.

I posted an ad on Craigslist for my pump and bottles, and someone's shown an interest.

Went through a stack of papers on the kitchen table and in the "mail organizer," which is really just a catchall. I didn't sort them all out, but I did get rid of a bunch of recyclable pages.

I think I'm at 18/100.

Does anyone have before/after pics of their clutter? I think this would be fun for us all to post. Visual inspiration!

I have a few here. When I find my camera (toddler ran off with it and hid it somewhere ) I'm going to take more.

63/500

I've fallen so far behind my goal--things have just gotten too busy with other stuff this month--multiple friends with life alterning crises. The rooms switch is still in progress, but no new stuff out, just moved around a (tiny) bit. I did get through my closet and most of my clothes today, so I got rid of a few things and set aside a huge bunch to list on the TP. I could use the extra money anyway Also, I got a paper project/mental clutter taken care of that I had put off, and am working on 2 more. So my new items gone:

10 stained/holey shirts and pants that were not repairable. I considered making rags, but my shelf is overflowing...
1 mental project--paperwork and phone calls done
1 box of bean soup mix from pantry that was way too old :

So, my new total is 75/500. Hey, there are still 10 days left in the month. If I get my TP stuff listed and some more room work done, it is totally possible
