***Switching to the Holiday Grand Plan***

Join anytime you want to or can. The goal is to get the house in order while organizing and preparing for the winter holidays. If your home is small without several rooms (like mine ), just work in areas. If the plan calls for working on a particular room or area of your home that isn't actually in your home, just pick a different area for that week. Make it work for you.
  • August 26 -- list week
  • September 2 -- question week
  • September 9 -- entry/foyer
  • September 16 -- master bed
  • September 23 -- master bath
  • September 30 -- kids room
  • October 7 -- guest room
  • October 14 -- kitchen
  • October 21 -- pantry/closets
  • October 28 -- family room
  • November 4 -- garage/storage
  • November 11 -- attic/storage
  • November 18 -- dining room
  • November 25 -- holiday decor
  • December 2 -- finish-up week
  • December 9 -- maintenance
  • December 16 -- maintenance
  • December 23 -- celebrate

Seems like last year there was a plan that started around now to get your home organized for the holiday season. I'll have to look around the website again. It wasn't the six week plan, it seemed like the Grand Plan.

Sounds really interesting. I'd like to do it-but I might have to finish a couple weeks early before the baby comes But we only have a two-bedroom so it might not be that bad!

I would love to join. I have just come back from being overseas in a wonderful, large, uncluttered space to our apartment- which needs decluttering. I would love to have it done for the holidays- actually earlier since my DH comes home in November.

Mama to two loqacious and bouncy boys.

I'm up for it, as long as I don't have to do anything that violates my compact.

My house could use a good cleaning!!

Soon, Katie wrote the Holiday Grand Plan that is presented here. The Holiday Grand Plan encompasses the 13-week Grand Plan for deep cleaning and organizing, and dovetails it with holiday prep and extends it to 18 weeks. Beginning the last week in August, the Holiday Grand Plan is designed to clean, organize and prepare a home for Christmas.
Is this the one we'd be doing? It says it starts the last week of August, so we'd better get going!!

Great! I'm so happy there's interest. It's just more fun when there's support for all of us. And I really need to do this.
  • August 26 -- list week
  • September 2 -- question week
  • September 9 -- entry/foyer
  • September 16 -- master bed
  • September 23 -- master bath
  • September 30 -- kids room
  • October 7 -- guest room
  • October 14 -- kitchen
  • October 21 -- pantry/closets
  • October 28 -- family room
  • November 4 -- garage/storage
  • November 11 -- attic/storage
  • November 18 -- dining room
  • November 25 -- holiday decor
  • December 2 -- finish-up week
  • December 9 -- maintenance
  • December 16 -- maintenance
  • December 23 -- celebrate

Each week we can post a sample checklist for guidance, and if you don't have that room or area just pick another. For example, I don't have a family room so I'll probably do our office area that week and we don't have a guest room so I'll probably do closets that week.

If you want to start later, just pick up wherever.

Still in?

In......except I have to make some modifications due to living in a 2 room house with all of our stuff still packed away. I will be working on "areas" instead of "rooms"

What do you say we start the first week of September?
[LIST][*]9/1 -- Gather Your Tools and Make a Game Plan[*]9/8 -- Entry Area

okay I know this isn't rocket science.... but are folks going to be using sept 1 of the deadline to have your plan together and sept 8 as the deadline to be done with the entry? or will you start working on your plan on sept 1 being done with it on the 8th, then start the entry on the 8th being done the next week....

I'm in. We are going to be moving out of our home for renovations from Nov.-Jan., but that still gives me 2 good months.

I can probably combine some rooms each week and get through it all on a slightly different schedule. My house isn't totally out of control, I just really need help on the nitty gritty stuff. I think this plan may help me get all the finishing touches done.

So what exactly does "gather your tools" mean? Like baskets, bins, trash bags and such?

AngelBee you've got me so inspired! I actually started on this today- printed out the first calendar and the front porch list, made my front porch list (for that I just brainstormed and even kinda daydreamed all the things I'd like to do ultimately), and made lists of what to ask my DH about gifts, cards, parties, and menus. This DOES feel good! Getting little details like "is the whole family going to attend DH's work party this year?" answered in AUGUST!! Now I'm off to make a master list of daily and weekly things that need to get done.

Okay, I'm in for the HOLIDAY Grand Plan. We're hosting Thanksgiving this year (our first year to host DH's family in 9 years of marriage, but not our first Thanksgiving at our home) and I want to have a plan. I also feel like I always have all these things I want to do (baked goods to give away, for example) that never get done because I wait too long.

So I'm definitely in. I need to get a new print cartridge, though. GRR!

I switched it to the Holiday Grand Plan, if that works for everyone. I think I prefer it, except that since we're simplifying the holidays I don't have much holiday prepwork to do at all.

I think we can do the Holiday Grand Plan and anyone not interested in the holiday part can skip that...don't you?

Snowbunny, I'm going on the Compact starting September 1, so I'm feeling the need to get organized for the holidays because all of my gifts will probably be homemade . Every year I plan on making things for the kids in my life and every year I end up putting it of and buying them something instead. So this year there won't be any of that!!
