Off topic: Does your little girl like the play refrigerator? We have the kitchen like that and I thought about getting my daughter the fridge for Christmas. Either that, or the Plan Toys dollhouse.

i love looking at all the pics i have been doing some major decluttering and minimalizing in the past two months. we've had some very stressful issues going on here and for some reason the decluttering and reorganizing has been very helpful to me. i have a dig camera now but haven't had a chance to figure out how to work it and post pics once i do though, i will share the results

It seems that we still have a lot of stuff, even after two rounds of major decluttering (baby-proofing and moving). But there's a place for everything, and everything (usually) in it's place.

Dd's bedroom/playroom

There are no storage lockers in the building, so everything is in the (6' x 6') storage room : cleaning supplies, tools, hubby's beer-brewing equipment, camping gear, gardening stuff, sporting goods, moving boxes, backpacks and duffelbags, stoller and carseat, kitty litterbox and food dishes, and the latest addition...our snow tires (top right). I always think this room is 'full' and then I manage to store more stuff in it!

Our bedroom is just large enough for a king-sized bed, nighttable, dresser and some laundry hampers.

Walk-through kitchen (left side)

I like the storage space above the cupboards

Dining area

A living room too small for a coffee table. The vintage red velvet lamps are from my granny.

My sewing table, the 'entertainment center' and the computer desk.

That's our place! It's not exactly 'clear', but it's clean, cozy and organized!
Your place is the most like mine of any posts I've seen! I rent a cozy house and I've come to the conclusion that you just *cannot* have a totally clear-looking home if it's this small. There are just too many things that most people are able to put away, but I can't. I love your home

I think there was a small living thread (or two) a while back. I know there was one where people talked about living in 800 sq ft or less. And also a few people lived in campers and RVs.

There is one MDC mom who has a blog about life in an RV. Small can equal good.

Thanks, we it too! I know what you mean about not being able to put everything 'away'...like cleared out of sight. I'm happy if everything has its place somewhere and it's clear enough for me to clean easily.

Lily's_Mom: I love all of the greenery and plants! No matter how beautiful or expensive or impressive a home is, I cannot stand it if there are no plants. To me, it is an absolute necessity. So nice to see all of the lovely GREEN!

Wow!! These photos are so inspiring!!

Lately this place has gotten out of hand and I am on a mission now. Although, it's tough because we live with the IL's so I also have to deal with my MIL's crap

We are house searching so I'm totally hoping we move soon, then it will be easy to start fresh with our own space. But it's never too late to start

Tila, my DD much preferred the fridge at 2.5 years. She didn't get into the Plan dollhouse until about 4 (even though she got it at about 2.5). Both our kids use our kitchen set up every day.

i'm decluttering like mad! we move to europe in a week and a half and we're taking our belongings right down...i'm been too crazy to post and i'm afraid most of the process hasn't looked very good!!

something i'm very happy about is taking our huge disc collection to binder, and donating all of the boxes. i was SHOCKED how many folks on craigslist wanted free dvd cases. done. i also got some clear tubs from ikea, and used my labeler to sort all of our hand-me-downs by age. i let go of a lot (for charity) and just kept the best - still too much, probably, but it will get used.

i've also sorted a lot of playmobil (the other massive collection at our house ) into smaller clear ikea boxes and stored them (for now!) labeled and with a map of how to rebuild the building. many other toys have gone, we've given things away, even my children have chosen things to give to friends. our dress-up is quarter the size, our art supplies were ruthlessly thinned - no more markers, just some good quality paint + brushes, high quality pencils, and a box of paper...some beads and roving. thank goodness!

because we're going overseas we've also made our technology (for business etc) completely portable, and very reduced, so i didn't need to keep my desk and have a tiny laptop, which works very well for me now...i can take work outside, which sounds bad but is regularly an excellent compromise. this is on of those areas where having less costs more than having more.

the biggest joy of all of this is that i've tried going into bookstores, toy stores, kitchen stores, and i do not want anything. fabulous!

we are leaving behind a sometimes home in grandparents place, so there's still stuff in it but it feels much more reasonable. it is nice to imagine our own future home someday and know how little we will need!

Its definitely the room that gets the craziest the fastest, but they're so happy with it that its still that clean!

I have that exact table cloth!!!! It was my grandmother's. I have a similar one to it in yellow, but the theme is harvest. I wonder if they were some sort of seasonal set?

I'm having one of those days where it all feels like a fruitless effort -- then I come on and see these beautiful spaces. I get to read that other people think my playroom looks good. And I feel so much better. Maybe its not all for nothing! Thanks!

Aww, thanks ladies! This house was a foreclosure that was pretty much wrecked cosmetically so we replaced almost all the floors, painted/fixed walls, etc. I are proud of our work, but we are selling it and many of our things and downsizing so we can move to a small town and go into full-time ministry. Talk about change!

Wow. You have a beautiful house. It's so decluttered and spacious. I love many of the features.

Did you paint it yourself or have it done professionally? I really like the colors on all your walls.
