I love this thread!

Thriftyqueen, I love your photo wall too! I also love how the decal ties it all together.

Cookiepie, when you post there's a bar of options above it where you can change the font, hyperlink, and choose smilies. There's an option that looks like a square picture that if you click on it says "insert image". I believe you can upload directly from your computer.

I spent most of yesterday working on my living room. Spring cleaning and decluttering was the theme of the day lol! No baby toys on the floor, or muddy shoes by the door. The kitchen is next on my list!

Hi, I'm new here! I've been reading a lot for at least a week and just decided to jump right in!

Here are some pics of our 600 sf apartment. There's three of us, we only have one bedroom but we co-sleep with DD (2). The living room is a combined play room, home office (each person has their own desk!) and lounging area. The kitchen fits a reasonably sized table. The bathroom is quite small but it fits a washing machine. I feel like we have plenty of space, we have lots of room in the cabinets (we all share the built-in wardrobe in the bedroom). Though we used to have more stuff and I felt crammed and claustrophobic, but turns out we didn't need a bigger home, we just needed less stuff :D Go figure! I don't ever want a big house now that I've got this figured out!

Thriftyqueen I have found your photo wall so inspiring!  I am trying to work out where I can do this in our home now. orngbiggrin.gif

Also in your other photo, I noticed the view outside...do you actually have snow in your backyard?  (forgive my wide eyed wonder....coming from Australia I just can't imagine it!)

So glad that my picture wall inspired you!  I love being able to look at that wall and think about all of my family.  It makes me feel so loved!!

Yes, we have lots and lots and lots of snow.  It started in October and we just had another big storm last week.  Can't wait for it to melt and for some spring/summer weather!  This is a closer view of my yard.  This is the front yard.

Wow...it looks so beautiful.  Although I can imagine the novelty might wear off quite quickly when you are ready for Spring to arrive. winky.gif

We have quite opposite weather here of course.....it has been very hot for Autumn, still hot enough to go to the beach and swim in our pool...but the last 2 days finally have become a bit cooler which is nice, have even worn a cardigan to go out.

Thanks cece!!!! I actually rearranged a little in the living room. And I took some new pictures from all over the apartment, including our wardrobe.. I hope this isn't too many pictures :)

My clothes (and DD's dresses on the far left). The bottom shelf of jumbled mess is my undies, socks and night wear. I also have a couple of cardigans, jackets and coats in the entrance hall. Two bottom shelves are for DD's clothes and diapers (not seen in this picture.) DH has the other half of the built-in closet.

IMG_0759.JPGIMG_0758.JPG

DD's shelf of clothing in my side of the closet. In addition to this she has woolly stuff and outerwear in the entrance hall. She has actually a bit more than she needs atm.

IMG_0751.JPGAnd here is the entrance hall with open coat rack and shoe rack. The colorful winter overall is not supposed to be hanging where it is, but on the other side with the other clothing.. so that the hallway isn't blocked!

A robot hook hangs two bags that hold mittens, hats etc.IMG_0756.JPG

Cooking utensils and vintage jars with flour

IMG_0755.JPGIMG_0753.JPGThe above shelves in the kitchen

hold a washable paper bag as DH's landing strip, an enamel mixing/serving bowl and an enamel coffee pot that functions as our water /juice pitcher. The rooster whistle is DH's memento from his grandma.

IMG_0655.JPGIMG_0675.JPGIMG_0722.JPGIMG_0729.JPGIMG_0665.JPGIMG_0676.JPGIMG_0673.JPGIMG_0749.JPGIMG_0750.JPGIMG_0761.JPG

Close-up of DD's comfy corner. The tiger is from DH's childhood and I've made the pillows.

So, I don't know, I think we have managed to fit a very comfortable amount of stuff in our 600 ft one-bedroom without feeling crammed in the least.. I will try to pare down just a little more, but still stay cozy and homey for DD!! Mostly our thing from now on will be to limit the incoming stuff to minimum. And if anything does enter our home, something else must go. But the best thing is to bring in the bare minimum, only replace worn out clothing for example. DD will get new toys and books obviously but I will try to keep it in check and also have started to talk to her about giving away excess..DH is completely on board with minimalism and he isn't into shopping or clothes or anything much beyond computers and books, but the books go the his work place's library after he has read them so that's all good!!!

Thanks! The green sofa is from my mom's side of the family and it was recently reupholstered. It seats three people. There are also six chairs, but we have no room for them. The sofa is our least functional piece of furniture- pretty much only used when we have guests. It's not good for lounging, but oh so very pretty! Still, if someone else in the family would want it at some point I'd give it away.

Here are pics of the other side of the living room, with my husband's desk.IMG_0762.JPGIMG_0768.JPGIMG_0763.JPGIMG_0744.JPG

I'm still thinking of things to get rid of. Under my desk is a cardboard box full of cd's of childrens' stories (my aunt was a director in the national radio) and we should burn them and get rid of the actual cd's. Under my husband's desk is some of his junk. There is room in his side of the bedroom closet where we could put them, just need to sort through it... And I'm culling pretty much all the categories of stuff, but mostly things will just be "naturally decluttered" from now on, meaning we will use them up and wear them out.

@ MiniMum- Too many pictures?  No such thing on a "Share your pictures" thread!  Thank you, your space is very inspirational to me.  Is the white cushion a bean bag type of thing?    I love, love the light feeling that your home evokes.  I'm motivated, hopefully I can share some pics of my own in the next few weeks!

P.s., I LOVE your office chair!

Beppie, it looks like there is lots of room for the kids to play :)

There is honestly not much else to our home than what I posted already, except the bathroom, which has a dim lighting and I will try to get a decent photo one of these days.. Maybe I have to use a flash.

I can post some detail pics of around the apartment, but really there is not much else to show. shy.gif

I love posting pics of my house when it's clean and pretty!! Right now I am in the middle of spring cleaning and decluttering and feeling a bit overwhelmed....but am happy that there are at least certain areas of the house that are mostly neat and organized.

Here are pics from our master bedroom that were actually taken a couple years ago. It pretty much looks the same right now except without any books on the headboard, the guitar is to the left of all the bookshelves now, there is a small recliner where the guitar was, and the dresser is moved to the one little spot of the wall that isn't in any of the pics!! I'm in the process of weeding out books because we are going to get rid of the bookshelf on the far right as well as the recliner (and am working to make the remaining bookshelves be only part books and part decor so as not to look so crowded)...then it will feel even more open!!

2rzuebl.jpg
2rp7jtg.jpg
23h10k0.jpg

These other pics are from last week though. I just went through Bug's room again and weeded out yet more toys. Funny kid doesn't even play with half of what I did leave him...but I don't wanna leave him completely toy-less!! We ARE gonna be getting rid of the toys on the bottom right of the closet though...since he's too tall for the little wagon now and since the keyboard has to be hooked up to a TV to play half of it's functions and we are getting rid of our TV.

Sorry for spamming the thread, but it IS nice to see what IS clean in pics while in the midst of clearing out and organizing the laundry room, the guest bedroom closet, the office, and the garage...all of which involve a decent amount of work!! Off I go to get busy cleaning, organizing, and clearing out again!! :-D

I have to agree that your place is really lovely! I'm truly digging it!

First, I love the grey/black/white backdrops with simple furnishings and then bright splashes! I love the green sofa! It's not something I would buy, but I love how it's a hand-me-down in your family. It's *perfect* in that way! And the color against the dark grey/black is fab.

Overall, I have a similar design aesthetic. We are looking to move from this apartment into a beach cottage with a yard. I'm excited about this new place because of the location, but it's also a beautiful victorian that looks right over the water (it's across the street from the beach, with nothing but road between beach and house. The exterior is done in grey and white, and the interior is really lovely, too. The floors are wood, and then I've asked if I can paint the walls. The color palate that i'm choosing is white, grey (silver-grey like the clouds here on a cloudy day), and a light blue (taken from a photo of the sea here, then taken down to a lower hue-value).

Most of the house will be minimally furnished.

Our bedroom will be as it is now: a king sized bed and our tall-boy dresser for clothes.

For DS, I'll eventually do his room in a twin of our bed, and a little side table/shelf for his candle, a small lamp, and his bedtime books.

For DH, I'll put together his office with a secretary desk, reading chair and lamp, and shelves for all of his books, piles of papers, and collections (he much less minimal than me. he needs his own space for his messy way of working).

For the living room, I have two danish modern chairs that were given to me by a friend (I need to recover the cushions) and I'll make side or coffee table (scroll down to the last picture) out of a bit of tree so that I'll have a place for my cup of tea. I'll also have some floor cushions since I normally sit on the floor. I'll need some kind of shelving for DS's and my own books and DS's toys.

But, the first priority is a table. I'd like a table like this one, though I've also found some that are more simple that I like. I have chairs to go with it already -- these funky old wire ones from the 70s (at $10 a piece, they were a fabulous a steal!). They are rusty, and I think it would look great with table similar to the one linked and one of these as a pendant light.

I love keeping it simple, and I can't wait to move in and share the pictures. Probably next summer. LOL :)
