I have about 200 records sitting in my basement right now and I've had a CD player since 1984 :.

Most of them are not replaceable but I'm having a really hard time letting them go! I'm trying to justify the cost of getting a USB record player and transferring everything to my computer. I'm hoping that I could sell them on ebay or craigslist and recoup some of the cost of the record player.

But then I'm stuck with a record player I no longer need.

Help! WWYD?

You can always take a few of your fav's and make snack or decorative bowls out of them. preheat the oven to 200, place a bowl upside down on a cookie sheet and lay the LP over it. Let it sit in there for about 10 minutes and it should get all nice and soft. Take it out and place it inside the bowl and shape as you'd like. Viola, youve got a great sentimental popcorn bowl or catch all for your office desk.

You don't need a USB record player if your computer has a line in. You can just use RCA jacks to a single stereo 1/8" jack. Record and convert.

Of course, if you're like me and just have an iBook G4, you'd need a USB turntable.

Me? I just opted to find *more* vinyl via freecycle, which then made it very easy to talk DH into replacing our (years broken) turntable.

Now I can listen to Shriekback whenever I want and DH now has an impressive collection of opera (yay, freecycle!).

It may not be decluttering, but it's organizing and using what I have!

Chasing DS since April 2007 and pumping for DD March 2013.

hmmmm...what kind of records do you have? i might have a good home for them

if you love them, bring them in the house and listen to them girl! even with no working record player sometimes its fun to drag them out and just look at them.

its not clutter if you love it, yk?

I love the ideas - I have some coloured lps which would make great snack bowls!

Shriekback - got those too and haven't listened to in in eons!

Hmmm, time to go turntable shopping :.

I say get a record player! Theres nothing quite like it! If you get one and then don't listen to them, then think about selling them, but with that many it would be a lot of work to sell them all individually...

I *heart* my record player. I'd just get rid of the Lps you don't want, get a record player, and have a party!

so many roads to ease my soul...

I got my parents this "retro" record player and they've been having a blast playing the old LPs. The sound isn't great but it's compact and portable. It's fine to have LPs if you use them .

Oh Ksenia that is so cool but I'm married to a musician and that would never fly. I think the knobs aren't big enough :.
