I really love to declutter but sometimes it gets tedious and boring so I've decided to make a game out of it. So what you do is pick a type of item or area of the house, post how many to declutter and you and the next person declutters that item or that room. Then they list a type of item and how many to declutter, etc. And if your feeling really motivates, go ahead and do both!

Example:
4 pairs of shoes OR 4 items out of your bathroom

Ok..I decluttered 4 pairs of shoes

Now declutter 2 toys OR 2 items out of your bedroom.

Etc.

You get the general idea.
Ok, I'll start

Declutter 10 items out of your living room OR 10 books

two pair of shoes, one suit, two pairs pants, two skirts, two shirts, and a sarong. Thats ten items of clothing from my bedroom. Wow its amazing how quickly you can keep going once you get started!

Next, get rid of three broken items that you won't have time to repair or five items from the kitchen.

And working in the coat closet:

Goodbye to two board games, 1 mismatched shoe, 1 pair of shoes I no longer wear, 1 small makeup bag hiding within my summer purse, 1 jacket 3 sizes too small.

Your turn: Go get rid of 5 items in your entertainment center (old movies, cd's, etc.) OR go clean out 10 items from your car!

I guess I posted at the same time as above poster b/c I cleaned my "unmentionables" drawer too. I threw out seven pairs of panty hose. Panty hose! I don't wear panty hose ever! That felt really good!

An honorable mention: by necessity (computer issues I had to clean out my inbox and all my "to be saved" folders and put everything into folders that make sense. It was a HUGE task and overwhelming but once I got going it was OK. And once I got finished it felt amazing!!

I don't want to confuse the game so next poster, just do what bumblebeej said!

I'll be back, I'm soooo needing this...

Whew, 10 items from my basement have been tossed (6 computer books for long gone computers, old computer supplies/accessories).

Next person...

Find 5 items of clothing that can be donated (take them out to your car to drop off later today)

OR

get rid of 6 items from you collection of tupperware or other plastic food containers (does everything have matching lids? If not, toss it out).

Great! I had a bag of clothes that is now in my trunk. It may be there a while as I can't go today, but it's a step!

Next person:

Go through your pantry and find 4-5 items to donate this week. (B/c it's a holdiay week, most grocery stores have boxes for donated items)

or

Go through a pile that's bugging you (mail, kids school papers or artwork, magazines, etc.) and put everything in it's place or recycle it.

OK, so I just did my own! I went through a giant pile of mail and put (almost) everything where it's supposed to go. I even made a few phone calls and paid a buried bill. Ahhhhh.... I feel so much better!

next person:

Go through your pantry and find 4-5 items to donate this week. (B/c it's a holdiay week, most grocery stores have boxes for donated items)

or

Go through DC's clothes and get rid of everything that no longer fits or is no longer seasonable. Put these things in their proper places, ie, to donate, consign, toss, etc.
