I hope this doesn't seem out of place, but for me it goes hand in hand with my clutter problem--I buy too much stuff. People (our family and friends)buy too much stuff to give us. There are so many good things we could be doing with our time and money other than shopping and taking care of our clutter (and then having to throw it away!)

Now, do not use this as an excuse to keep all your plastic butter tubs that can't be recycled or whatever. This is not meant to make us all feel guilty and never throw anything away. Sometimes you need to make your house back from a trash dump into a home first (worry about recycling later when you can walk through the house kwim??)

It's kind of a long film, but you can watch it in segments by clicking the words at the top. Someone had this posted in New and Current Events.

This is exactly what has helped me stop buying things.

Now I have to stop spending time on money saving sites so I have that time, too.

I'll have to pass this on to DP, he is a shopoholic.

I wrote about the Story of Stuff on my blog. It is a great, informative scary movie. The pressures to buy are so big and pervasive in this country, and elsewhere. But, you can decide not to. It is very freeing to get off the treadmill...

Crunchy check list:  2 homebirths (one accidental UC!), co-slept, no CIO, cloth diapers, home/un school, raw milk drinker (!) I am a walking cliche!! I even blog and knit...
