I have an old, very full (photos) ibook, and ipod I don't really know how to use beyond dowloading a few podcasts, and some external drives. I also have have a small collection of music cds and some great spoken word cds. When we moved we left beyond our cd players and now have only an ipod dock my sister gave me.

So....now I need to find out how to get all my cds into electronic formats so I can play them and store them.

Would anyone be willing to take the time to explain step by step how i would do this. I would be extremely thankful!

Happy mom to DS2000, DS2002, DD2004, DS2006 and DS 10/2009:

Oh, this is easy peasy! Simply open iTunes on your iBook. Insert a CD. You will get a pop-up window that asks if you want to import the CD into your iTunes. Click yes, and it does the work! It will let you know when the CD is imported and you can eject it. For most CDs, iTunes will automatically fill-in the album/track names/artist.

To move the songs to your iPod: connect your iPod to computer. You will see iPod show up in the menu on the left side of your iTunes screen. Click on MUSIC in the iTunes menu on the left (will be above your iPod icon). You will see all your songs listed. Simply highlight the ones you want (don't try to do a lot at once, 1 album's worth at once is good) and DRAG & DROP over the icon representing your iPod in the iTunes menu.

You should think about moving some of those photos to an external drive.
