We are a small group of about (currently) about 8 people, including 3 kids. We are looking to create an OTG community in WA, probably the North East part, as there's a lot of land we've found for very cheap. We are hoping to find others who are interested in this, and with an array of skills, make this happen. By combining skills and resources, we hope to secure land for everyone to be able to carve their own little home on the land.

These are some of the skills we have, or are learning, and we're looking to network with others, who have skills that can add to what we have, and compliment us in these regards.

General labor. Milk a cow, gather eggs, clean. Handy with a pic axe and other hand tools. Solder wires.

Experienced with kids and the elderly, especially in the capacity of instructional purposes; great for "community home-schooling." Admin/research: organizational, keeping track of inventory and resources, informational resources (what foods/plants can be helpful for various medicinal purposes). MS Office, Adobe Creative Suites, PC, Mac.

Learning how to grow crops; want to learn other techniques. Learning how to can. Alternate technology communications (eg, ham radio)

Cook over a campfire, making smores

Hi, Heather. I read your reply, and I like what you have...

However, my thread is for WA = Washington (state). I am actually in Chesapeake, VA, but by June, will be going to meet my cousin in her fiancee for their wedding in Vegas, before I get back with friends in Washington.

I am not sure if we would be able to network, unless you're interested in a cross-country drive to WA; with the kids, I'd guess no. There's a 20 Acers for 35k, in the small town of Republic, WA. But I always like to keep in touch with others, and exchange info, ideas that do/don't work, etc.

Right now, on paying members--obviously, the minors don't pay money, though maybe we should charge them! LOL--I'll say we have 7 for sure, but are still talking with others. Our goal is to have enough people, that every member pays $200 - $300, to cover the land fee, and general community costs.

Thank you, for your reply, and feel free to keep in touch, if you like!

Ed

I'm heavily revamping this entire concept.

This is group is for people who live, or want to move to, the (north) east part of Washington state. Areas include: Spokane (city/co); Republic (Ferry Co); Omak (Okanogan Co); Colville (Stevens CO); Davenport (Lincoln Co), and nearby areas.

I am looking for fellow military veterans, families, forestry workers, college students, professionals, and any others who are interested in creating a self-sustaining, OTG, type community, which in turn, will offer a wide array of goods and services to give back to the surrounding communities.

I am especially interested in anyone who is familiar and able to build, work on vehicles, knows how to farm, gardening, handle animals, hunting/fishing, etc.
