We have a GE Profile from Home Depot that replaced another brand we had for at least 10 years.  It works well except that we have to change the 2 filter cartridges more often than we'd like, about every 4 months.  We change the RO cartridge about every 6 months.  The 2 filter cartridges run about $50.  Sometimes I wonder if using a Berkey filter would be less expensive plus we wouldn't be running all that extra water down the drain.  Just have to convince DH of that.

BTW, nice name.

In my research of RO systems, I found a site, can't remember it now, but it said to stay away from the ones in home improvement stores. You will have to change the filters more often and overall they dont last as long. You need to find one made in the USA so the craftsmanship is better etc. The APEC ones look really good but I actually have decided to go with the big berkey. I haven't ordered it yet, still shopping around, but those berkeys seem to make more sense.

... You like my name?? Your name Erin???

We have a Berkey but DH doesn't like it sitting out on the counter (?).  I receive email from Pure Water and they sell RO units that we'll definitely consider next time we replace ours.

And, yep, I'm an Erin too!
