We are buying two Alpine yearlings in-milk next week. I'm so nervous and so excited. I posted about it on another forum, BIG mistake! I got all kinds of "advice" that I was paying too much for them. Anyway, just looking for someone to share the joy!

Well, *I'll* be happy for you! In fact, I'm jealous. Goats are a dream of mine.

Congratulations on venturing into dairy goats! We raise Nubians and know how much fun (and work) they can be. Anyway, good luck!

Yippeeee!! Want to know why I love my goats so much today? Because I got a huge MOUND of steaming, juicy composted goat poop to spread on my garden. Those goats are so good for so many reasons! You'll love the Alpines (I have 4 Nubian/Alpine mix) They are great milkers and so fun to have around.

Thanks everyone!

Hey crissei! We live in Fincastle, north of Roanoke. I remember reading another of your posts...you live near Floyd? It's near and dear to my heart-I grew up there, and we just bought a house on the family farm. I hope you love your goats!

How fun!!!

We're waiting for a couple of pygmy goats that were born last month to be weaned so we can start a goat adventure too.

I'd love to hear some helpful hints after you've had your for awhile. I'm really paranoid about them getting loose and dancing on my vehicle!!

Yippee! I'm jealous! A good friend of mine just got a goat, too, & I went from wanting one "someday" to wanting one now! But DH just isn't on board (yet!) so I will have to live vicariously thru those of you that do. Please do share your experiences!

Congrats on getting goats!!!!!! I love my goats so much....we raise Boer goats as pets and my kids adore them. I will tell you - my goats are smart as can be! And they are natural born escape artists too. LOL

Does anyone else enjoy watching a man chase a goat as much as I do?
