Hello all, I was needing some advice on an antidepressant. I have recently been diagnosed with BPD. Found out it is all due to my being adopted (although that reason was always in the back of my mind). I am needing a very mild antidepressant to help me cope while I go through therapy. And I was wondering if anyone knew of a good one with very little side effects. I like to socially have a couple of drinks with my close girlfriends every once in a while (about 1x month). And I would still like to be able to do that. I am not depressed here, I just temporarily need something to help me in the beginning of my therapy because I know you get worse before you get better. So if anyone knows of anything like that I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thank you so much.

Wellbutrin has a low risk of sexual effects but you have to take it at the same time every day. This is because it increases the risk of seizures. http://depression.emedtv.com/wellbut...d-alcohol.html Info on wellbutrin and alcohol.

You really aren't supposed to drink with any SSRI (or Wellbutrin). If you are drinking a small amount infrenquently I probably wouldn't personally worry a lot about SSRI's (celexa, zoloft for example) assuming you don't have liver issues. Zoloft might be the best mix with alcohol. But I probably would not pick my SSRI based on alcohol use you describe. Just realize the alcohol may affect you more than it does when you aren't on an SSRI.

Effexor and Paxil have really huge withdrawal effects so avoid those in your case.
