The book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle has helped  me a lot with obsessing over health issues.  It really teaches you to focus on the present moment.  Just go get a check-up, and then let go of your anxiety.

IMO, the western culture does not accept death or unhappiness. It's considered a "no-no." Dumb, IMO. We make dead people look like they're still alive. Appalling, IMO. It's OK and totally normal to be freaked out about it, the idea that we aren't *ever* freaked out about is incomprehensible to many, especially Buddhists and Hindus. Many think that westerners are like children in that regard. Read and watch documentaries from other cultures about death rites.

you will get through this if you are willing to pay attention to this subject and come to terms with it.

Blessings
