I applied for SSI for my mental(bipolar, severe anxiety, depression) and physical (fibromyalgia)issues, and they want me to go for further testing later this month for my mental issues.I am so scared about this.I have no idea what to expect, what to say,I am so terrified to even go but if I don't go I will be denied benefits.Has anyone else had to do this? What happened?I have to confirm the appointment tomorrow as they were closed today, and I am even afraid to call, but I have to. I just talked to my mom and she thinks this is a good thing, because in her experience when they send you to their drs claims get approved.I am so hoping this is true.

It took me 2 years and 2 appeals before I was approved for SSI.

DP gets SSI, luckily for us her claim was approved the first time. Apparently her treating psychiatrist had *really* good notes. I personally would think it is a good thing if they are asking for you to meet with someone else - they didn't deny your application right away.

I went for the testing,it was a complete psych history. It was very hard to relive all of that. Luckily I had taken a klonopin before, and I made sure to tell her that I was on meds to get through the exam.I was terrified. Now I just have to play the waiting game. She said it takes a week for her to write up her report, then she sends it over to SSI.I'll call after Thanksgiving to see if they received it.I hope they make a decision soon.
