I will be offering a dynamic new mother's group in the new year, and I'm wondering what time of the day would work best for mothers with new babies (newborn to pre-crawling). The class will be about an hour and a half in length, and I'm thinking something like either 10:00-11:30 or 1:00-2:30. I know that inevitably this will be someone's nap time, but I'm trying to avoid it being a difficult time for everyone!

So I'm curious- if you were to set an idea time for a mother's group (which is focused on the journey of motherhood, not so much on the babies themselves, so I dont need alert interacting babies, but I do want the moms to be able to enjoy the classes!) what time of day would work best for you?

Thanks!

I think your first suggestion sounds good, although personally I think 10:30-12:00 would be the ideal time for me.

I go to a mom's group from 10-12 and it works out well.

Every moms group I know does stuff in the mornings, not afternoons. For me this works well because DD naps on and off in the mornings, on no real schedule. In the afternoon she takes a long nap that I try not to interrupt.

For us, anytime from 9:30am to noon is great.

I'm just the opposite. It's almost impossible for me to get anywhere before 12 noon. I go to a BF group from 12-1:30, and it's perfect. 1-2:30 would probably be even better, b/c then I could eat first.

Sleepy mama to Colin Theodore 8-12-08 and Trevor Arthur 7-17-12.

I try not to interrupt the morning nap, which is unpredictable, so I would generally go with the afternoon.

We both need to get out of the house around 3 so I would say late afternoon.

I ran a new mother's support group in Atlanta for 7 years. The newborns to 6 months met from 10 to 11 am and the 6 months to walking met at 11am to noon.

I've discovered there is no good time, but time frames that work ok for most. That usually seems to be the mornings so I's go with the 10am spot, that's when I do my own meetings as well.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

Afternoons work so much better for me. I have one of those babies that naps late morning/early afternoon so getting out of the house before noon is impossible for us unless I wake her up.

I'd go with the afternoon. I have never made a 10am group with either child until after they drop to one nap.

Thanks for all the responces! It sounds like quite an equal divide! I think maybe I will try to offer mornings for one series, and then afternoons for the following series, so moms can choose!

The best time for me to go to a moms group would be between 11:30 and 1:00. Dd still naps in the morning until about 10:30-11, then again from about 1:30-4. I find it really hard to schedule things because the only "good" time I have during the day is right at lunch time.
