I live in the South. I'm looking at March and wanting to be in the garden doing a little work with dd in the mei tai, and I realized mosquitoes will be out before I know it (like, in March ). Can anyone suggest a good, safe mosquito repellent for infants? I don't want to use DEET on a 7 month old, and I hate the smell of citronella.

Lucky wife to DH and mom to DS (10/02) and sweet DD (7/08) and DSD (3/93) and assorted animalia

I used one from Brittanie's Thyme (unsure of how to spell Brittanie) I saw advertised in Mothering last summer, while I was pg. It's all essential oils.

I think people have also recommended California Baby.

I also REALLY like this company but haven't used this product: http://www.moondancesoaps.com/produc..._Bug_Off_Spray

Herbaria Soaps has a natural citronella and marigold soap that works great. I haven't used it on my babe yet but plan to this summer. I use it without anything else and I rarely get bites while everyone else I'm with who use normal, gross spray gets bit all over.

I'm glad you started this thread! Right now, we live near the Mississippi river, and wow did we have a mosquito problem this past year with floods and all. We're moving to the Chicago area pretty soon but I'm not sure just when, and there are mosquitoes there too. LOL. I ended up using pretty nasty mosquito repellent with DEET on my older daughter last year because the mosquitoes were so incredibly bad. But I can't do that with a newborn. Hopefully there won't be floods and we'll be moved.

I will keep track of suggestions here.
