I know each baby is different but I could use some rough guidelines.

My baby is 10 months old.
She continues to have breastmilk approximately every 4 hours and nurses throughout the night.

She seems to enjoying eating approximately 2-3 ounces of solid food during any particular meal.

We recently started a breakfast course and found that she loves it but now, I see she doesn't want as much for dinner or lunch. Sometimes, we'll just skip the solid and let her drink a little extra on the breast.

DH thinks that's just my imagination.

Should a 10 month old breastfed baby be eating 3 solid meals a day?
In either case is 2-3 ounces of solid food too little or too much?

Some moms I've spoken to tell me their kid eats whole jars of food. I'm not sure how much is in a jar as I make her food but I'm fairly certain it's more than 2-3 ounces.

Just curious to hear you experience.

Thanks in advance.

My ds is 10 mo. and he barely eats anything. He mostly plays with food. Definetely no "jars".

The amount you describe sounds reasonable to me.

I'm thinking 2-3 oz translates into 1/4 to 1/3 cup by volume? If so, that's what my ds eats when he's really hungry. Most times it's more like 2 tablespoons, roughly.

We also skip meals occasionally, especially if he sleeps through mealtime. It varies quite a bit from day to day.

I think the baby food jars are pretty small, though I don't use them myself. I know ds ate a whole single-serving cup of apple sauce at his grandma's last week, and I think that's like 4 oz.

Jarred babyfood has a ton of water to make it smooth, so you really can't compare volume. A jar of premad baby food is probably the same as your LO eating 3/4 as much and having a small glass of water.

i don't know in weight, but here's what my dd ate yesterday:

1 quarter of a piece of toast
4 inch long piece of corn on the cob
2 cherry tomatos
1 mini quiche (like jam tart size)
1 fish cake
half a banana

i don't think she's much of an eater either compared to what her puree fed baby friends eat, but written down like that it looks much more than i thought. hmmm.
