I'm wondering if it's possible to have the Sleepi Crib set up with the mattress at the higher position and without the side rail (the piece you would remove to make it a toddler bed)? I was thinking if I could use it as a cosleeper initially, crib, then toddler bed (and find a used one) I might be able to justify the cost.

This is a pretty old post, and you've probably already made your decision about the Stokke Sleepi, but I'm pretty sure that you can have the crib set up with the mattress at the highest position and have no side rail piece. I think Stokke calls this the 'mini sofa' arrangement - although, yeah, if you could figure out how to rig it safely to your bed it would be a great co-sleeper set up!

I'm considering the same thing - we live in a small apartment so buying a gently used Stokke Crib, taking down the front panel and side-carring to the bed would be PERFECT.  Has anyone tried this?

From what I read there are four height settings, so I'd expect you could get it close to mattress height and may need to do some kind of adjusting to get it perfect and safe.
