Ok--I have always swaddled my babies and never had a problem weaning them off it but DS#3 wants nothing to do with weaning! This kid is almost 7 months old and he absolutely will not sleep more than 15 minutes unless he is tightly swaddled! Not only is it a pain to swaddle him each and every time I need him to sleep, but he is getting stronger and more active and breaks out of it easier each time. I have tried swaddling him with just one arm out and he quickly falls asleep but then wakes up screaming after 15 minutes. I don't let him scream, but I do let him fuss for awhile to see if he will go back to sleep and he never does. Is keeping him swaddled at this age hurting him developmentally? Do I just suck it up and deal with it until he is ready?

I agree that a zipadeezip is a good idea as it is a good way to transition from a swaddle. I actually put my daughter in the zipadeezip as well as a swaddle to begin with so that if she broke out of the swaddle she was still covered. Now we only use the zipadeezip or nothing if it's too hot but sometimes when she is sick or teething she still likes to be swaddled (she is almost 11 months) as it seems to provide her some comfort.

I also used the zipadeezip to transition from the swaddle. It seemed to help.

Married to a wonderful woman since 2010. Baby boy C arrived in June 2013!
