What are your favorite lullaby albums? Secular, religious, instrumental, foreign language, whatever.

I'm making a playlist as I neurotically nest for my firstborn, arriving in early July, and I need some ideas.

Thanks!

YES! This is a beautiful record.

I also love the Rockabye Baby series, specifically Led Zeppelin and Radiohead. Brazilian Lullaby from the Putumayo series is also in my Top 3.

I really love the Wonder of Lullabies. It's a songbook and cd.

These are our favorites as well.

Also anything by Van Morrison.

Thanks so much! I'm checking them out on iTunes right now. On a Friday night. A year ago we would be out lingering over dinner and wine. Now I'm downloading lullabies and reading kellymom.com. It's okay, right?

Definitely. Babysteals just had these last week, I got Queen, Beatles, Bob Marley and U2, and they're fabulous!

We listened to that so much when my daughter was a baby. She was a terrible sleeper so I was up with her a lot. I rocked and rocked and rocked some more. I think that version of Blackbird will always make me cry.

Every night we sing

Hush little baby (Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird)
Tender Shepherd
Stay awake (Mary Poppins)
and one my mom used to sing it goes

Hush a bye, don't you cry
Go to sleep my little baby
When you wake
You shall have
All those Pretty little horses
Dapples and Greys
Pintos and Mares
All those pretty little horses

Way out yonder in the meadow
There's a baby crying mama
When she wakes
She shall have
All those Pretty little horses
Dapples and Greys
Pintos and Mares
All those pretty little horses

It's really pretty.

And sometimes we add in twinkle twinkle little star

We have Rockabye Baby Led Zeppelin and The Cure. She also loves Norah Jones album Come Away With Me...she instantly relaxes to this CD for some reason. Also Bob Marley & the Wailers Legends album. (not the Rockabye version, the straight-up Bob Marley. She loves the whole album!)

I'd go through CDs you already have and see what you have that is relaxing to you. Your baby will probably feel the same.

our little hippie baby loves the American Beauty album by the Grateful Dead. She has fallen asleep to it more than once, actually any of their music can be pretty relaxing.
I'd like to think that she loves that album because she was born while it was playing and had been for 2 straight hours because it was the only thing helping me relax but I know that isn't really why she likes it

All of the above. Jewel also has a nice lulllaby album out. Putamayo Dreamland.

We do a lot of AfroCelts, Deep Forest, Pangea around here. DS loves it. There's a little beat that we dance to for a few minutes before putting him down, and then it works great for going to sleep.

single, WAH home, to my only very kind & sweet lil man
