Dulse is high in iron, and you can add it to other foods if you want.

Wow, I have never even heard of Dulse. I had to look it up! Thanks for the tip. We'll have to look for it.

So, Dylan is definitely a small guy. He weighs 17lbs 3oz. Which is the 5th percentile. His height is 26 1/4, the 2nd percentile! That kind of hurt seeing the 2nd percentile for some reason. But, the doctor is fine with it, so I'm trying to be.

The Dr did do a blood check and we found out Dylan is anemic. I haven't really been feeding him much solids, so we have to start that right away. Of course Dr said to do the supplement, too. I'm still trying to see if I can find a more natural one than the Enfamil one since DS seems to be pretty picky with food and unfortunately bananas don't have much iron!

Israel is right there with Dylan.. the day he turned 9 months ( July 10th) he was 16 lbs 12 oz... he might be 17 lbs now as that was about 2 weeks ago. He is also still 26 inches. How tall are you and your dh? I'm 5'6 and dh is 5'7

Do you eat red meat? My dd never ate cereal or much solids till close to a year and I had her iron tested and it was fine. Every kid is different.

I'm 5'8" and my dh is 6'1" -- haven't had dd measured since she was six months but she seems tall for her age.
One question: do any of you know if holding a non-crawling baby while she "walks" around is bad for her development? S is still not really crawling -- sometimes she will army crawl a few inches but then she starts to fuss right away, so I mostly carry her around or let her sit, but dh will hold her chest and let her walk around the apartment for as long as he can take it (it's very hard on the back especially for a 45 year old tall guy with spine issues), and she loves it. The craniosacral therapist says not to do this, though, because she says it's better for brain development if she crawls first. I try but she just doesn't like it. What do you guys think?

I don't know the answer to that question. I never really thought about it. Dylan isn't crawling either, so I am always carrying him. I do let him "walk" around while I hold either his hands or under his arms. He usually gets tired after a couple of minutes and just sits. I never really thought about it. I know that the hand out that my doctor gives out every WBV says "no walkers", but I think he is talking about actual devices. I'll be curious to hear what others think.

How is everyone doing? Is it hot where you are? It's been in the 80s here, which is hot for here (most places don't have A/C). We live in a second floor unit, so it's been very hot in the afternoons and evenings. Last night dd and I both were almost naked (she in a diaper, me in a pair of underpants) most of the night until early morning (6ish) when she awoke. I decided she was cold, so I put a shirt on her and closed the window. I also closed the blackout curtain (which doesn't block all the light but does make it a lot darker -- light leaks around the edged and in the middle and along the top and bottom), and we slept in until 9:45 -- yet she went down for a nap at 11 am.

I'm not sure where you live in WA, but we live in Tacoma. It is warm for here. Luckily, we put an a/c in our bedroom last summer when I was pregnant, so we were pretty comfy last night.

I can't believe how late you guys slept. I am so jealous!! Dylan is still getting up very hour or two. And woke at 5:30 this morning. Ugh. I keep on blaming it on his teeth, but who knows. He's now up to 7 teeth. No crawling at all yet, but probably because I don't put him down enough! Hard wood floors and dog hair. Yuck. I've got to get over it though!

How's everyone else?

wow 7 teeth! Vlad still only has 2.

we hung out over my parents house this past weekend due to the heat (with the heat index it was in the 100's). we have an a/c unit for our bedroom. i think the background noise helps Vlad sleep.

sorry jen and meredith, but i have to LOL @ 80 degrees being 'hot.' i live in the south and it's been hovering around 100 with 80%+ humidity. it's hard to take millie out because she sweats terribly inside when the thermostat is set at 77 or so.

here's the boob hat! i made this and she hates it but it gets some looks and laughs!

I am from the south originally, but lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years, where the summers were usually pretty cool (September/October could be hot though), so anything over 80 feels hot to me. Also, it seems like the summer sun is hotter here than other places I've lived.
I live in Redmond, and it's been in the upper 80s here. We don't have A/C and live on the 2nd floor, and I think it gets into the 90s inside in the later afternoon. But yeah, I'm definitely a heat wimp. And a cold wimp for that matter. Here, too, it will be like in the 50s and low 60s in June until one day, wham the high is 86, so it's kind of a shock.
I use a spray bottle on dd to keep her cool -- just a regular plant sprayer set on mist. But our humidity is usually around 50% or less in the summer so it evaporates pretty fast.
that's a cute hat, but isn't it hot?
Oh, and yes, it was nice to sleep in yesterday, but then dd was up until nearly 11 last night! I usually stay up after she goes to be to read to ds, but could only do so for a short time. Poor dh, he is an early riser (wakes at dawn, which is around 5 now), and I never spend time with him after the kids are in bed. Sigh.

I'm in N.central Wa and it's been HOT, like 90+ which I love, I mean it can be too much, but we go to the river by our house and play all afternoon on the days I don't work, or we go after DH gets off work.

Owen is almost walking, he now is standing independently and does these, squats where he stands or he just sits there. He has been much better this week w/out having to be held all.the.time.

He is still a HUGE pig, I really cannot believe how much he can eat, but he has no fat on him, he is really ripped for a baby. People comment all the time how strong he is, when we are at the beach he doesn't sit still for a moment and now he is in love with the water, so he is like following a little crab around. the stick and sand eating is becoming less, thank goodness.

It's just busy and hot here. Garden, work, kids, crazy summer days, gotta love them.

DD had her 9 month WBV today, and she's in the 95th percentile for height and head circumference, 50th for weight. She slimming down, I guess. She doesn't eat much solids still, but also hasn't been nursing as much, since she pretty much has to lie down in bed to nurse more than a tiny bit at a time (so distractible). I mentioned how one eye looks higher than the other, and the doc (naturopath agreed and referred me to a vision specialist. She noticed dd's tight lip frenulum and told me to go back to the doc who clipped her tongue tie, and see if that should be clipped as well. Sigh, between those and dentists visits (ds has three cavities, I have two), it seems like we will be at doctors or dentists all the time. I'm also taking ds to a neurologist about his arm, which has developed a twitch (he also has developed eczema), so it really does seem like it's going to be a visit a week or more for August. Sigh.
