In our experience, every specialist we saw said to wait to clip it if he was gaining weight and I was ok with the pain with nursing. They all said that it probably wouldn't affect speech. There are several different places that a tongue can be "tied" and that can make a difference in whether or not it needs to be clipped. A posterior one is very different from an anterior or lateral one. Hope the specialist can help, there is a lot of information out there, PM me if you want, I can give you my two cents worth if you have a specific question
thanks flavorfull! I will get back to you once we've seen the specialist, but thanks for putting my mind at rest re the babbling, I'll believe DHs view now that she's just too busy focussing on her motor skills at the moment. Really hoping that it doesn't need to have it clipped then, given she can eat fine, I was worried about speech because she still can't put her tongue past her lips.
I hope the appointment comes soon!

So we are sick again! DH was sickly all last week (didn't stay home from work, just cough and overall yucky feeling), baby got sick last Wednesday (stuffed up, sneezing, little cough) and me Friday (super sore throat and all that was prev. mentioned). Wtf, I thought breastfeeding was suppossed to kick sickness in the butt.

DH is taking baby to his doc appt today. Babe had a fever last week, it went away, now it was mildly back yesterday. He is still stuffy!

I think I got sick because of not enough sleep due to not sleeping baby. But really, we are healthy people. Handwashing, daily jaunts outside, lots of fruit. What the heck!

My family = me + dh & ds +

Sorry you are sick!

I was rarely sick before having kids - and even that first year with DS not really. Now, I've had bad colds (as has everyone else in the family) 3 times this year and I'm sure we're not done yet! It is so frustrating, but I've come to accept it as the way of life with kids. We are doing a bunch of Halloween activities this weekend, so I'm going to assume we'll all have some sort of illness next week.

I keep my hands off my face out in public, but DS and DD don't. Then at home they want lots of kisses, which I can't deny, plus them putting their hands in my mouth, up my nose, etc... Anything DS gets, I almost always get after. Sucks. Oh, and DD gets it too because he also has to slather her with snotty kisses.

I'm not feeling too hot right now, either. My throat was a little scratchy yesterday and today it's more uncomfortable. I don't have a fever, and I'm really hoping it's a cold, not strep. My nose is a bit runny/stuffy, but that could be my allergies. If I don't feel better by tomorrow I'll have to tell my sister to come by for Halloween at her own risk.

Elsa is pulling up on things like crazy now. And of course, we now have to deal with the head bonkings that come with that. Very scary for me. And she has a disturbing new fascination with pulling on her own hair and sometimes even rips it out. I have no clue how to make her stop doing that.

Hope everyone who was sick are now feeling better.

Baby Lucy is 8 months now! In her 7th month she accomplished clapping, waving and smacking her lips. She will sit for 30-45 minutes exploring/playing with a small bucket of objects. She giggles, smiles easily and chats a lot.

For me, our new contract is just starting. This will require me to work full time hours now. Up until now Lucy has come to work with me while I do admin stuff and errands but now I will have to find some other situation for her. Bummer. I may see how long I can get away with bringing her a few days a week, but this work requires my full attention for long periods of time. She can stay at home w/ her dad a few days a week until his sabbatical is over in Feb. I haven't had much motivation to do anything extra, but soon I will have to start some kind of exercise regime...or at least start-up my weekly yoga sessions. I have decided to give myself until Feb. and then see what kind of work my body needs.

Updates, eh!

Sorry you are sick! But like Nicole, we've found that our children bring us germs we never had before. I'm not sure my DH was ever sick in the 12 years we were together before having kids (maybe once a cold? maybe twice?), but now we're both sick a couple times a year. Actually we're all recuperating right now from a stomach bug--ick. Poor DH is still upstairs puking. The kids and I are getting better, but it's been nasty. (Co-sleeping and a puking baby means so much laundry. Will we ever get caught up?)

Sunrise, good luck with the return to work!

How's everyone liking the new format?  I've only used it a little bit, but so far I like it.  Easy to understand and a lot easier to read IMO.

Elsa's 8 months and 1 week and just figured out how to crawl with her stomach off the ground.  She is also trying to pull up, which is ends up with her falling - she doesn't seem to have the strength or balance yet, but she keeps on trying!  She is so different from DS in that respect.  She is curious about everything, touches and tastes everything.  Her big brother has also been giving her running dive/hugs, so it's hard to leave them alone for any amount of time.  He's also getting increasingly frustrated with her trying to play with his toys/train tracks.  The past few weeks have been the hardest for him as she becomes more mobile and more of her own person.  He's realizes she's not just an accessory to our family, but a human that is going to want to play and interact.  Most times he loves it, but other times he gets quite upset at her.

They are so cute together though, whenever she gets sad in the car he tells her 'we're almost there Elsa' and then tries to make her laugh.  Then they're both back there giggling, way too cute.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy!  We're going to get outside today and enjoy these last couple days of 60 degree temps!

Concerning the format, er, I do like the avatar pictures. Although I have to look closer to find the persons name to see who is posting. I find the overall format very hard on the eyes! Too much clutter above  and down the side bar w/ ads, reviews, lists of private messages, etc. I also find it hard to find a forum. And when I do, there are too many options to click on, such as go to my most recent post, go to end, go to beginning. etc. Maybe I can change the settings, but haven't taken the time to figure that out. Maybe I will just get used to it.

My 8 month old still has no teeth, but surely she will get some soon, she is hurting and drooling and biting down lots. She sits and plays a lot. She can do push-ups, but no crawling. She said mamama yesterday.

I LOVE seeing how my older son interacts with baby. It is beyond my expectations. He loves her and makes her laugh and watches out for her, plays with her...

Hi mamas!  Seems like forever since I've been on this thread!

W was Robin for Halloween as big bro was Batman. He was basically on my back (in a carrier) the entire time just taking it all in. So cute!!  J is the best big bro.  He loves being goofy with W, playing with him, although he doesn't like it when W crawls to him and tries to touch him....but it'll pass, I'm sure.

He's 8 months now.  Two teeth have popped through.  He's been crawling since 6 months and is now wanting to cruise.  He's so quick and in to everything, it seems like!  No signing just yet but when I teach him new words and signs, he watches my lips, so I know he's paying attention. LOL wink1.gif

wow, this new format will take some getting use to but I think I like it??

DS loves being mobile.  He has a couple different push toys and can pull him self up and motor along but can't turn.  So he "walks" from one side of the basement to the other, then squeals to let us know he wants us to come help him turn around.  Back and forth until one of us tires out.  So much fun.

My house is one big disaster zone - hopefully this 4 day weekend will help me get organized.  I feel like I'm constantly just trying to be one step ahead of DS and grab whatever I think he is going to get into and move it up high - resulting in huge piles of STUFF everywhere.  I didn't feel like I wanted to baby proof much but now I'm quickly realizing how I'm going to have to reorganize certain things (the laundry room, bathroom, the shoe closet...)

Hello everyone! wave.gif May i join your thread? My son Jonas Gabrielius was born Feb 10, and we are from Myrtle beach, SC. Have you all been talking as a group for a long time now?

The thread doesn't look very active lately, what's up with that? Sheepish.gif

Of course you may join!  Welcome.

We started out as a Due Date Club (DDC) on here and then started this thread in Life With A Babe to try and keep connected somewhat.  I think it's just not as active because we are all busy keeping track of our mobile babies.  :)  Not as easy to type and nurse when the baby wants to type too!

Welcome Tynka!

Yeah, DS popped a key off my keyboard and likes the computer, so I have trouble. :lol

DS is cruising...sigh. Too mobile! 5th tooth popped through, with #6 on the way. He's dropped a couple of Nursing sessions during the day-down to 4 or 5 and then 1-2 at night. Before he was still at like 12 in a 24 hour period.

Elsa is cruising, too.  Sigh.  I swear she just started pulling up a few weeks ago.  I lose track so easily.

She's been a total crab lately, and I'm not sure why.  She doesn't want to sleep anymore, even at night, when she's always been easy.  It's been torture to get her down, and even once she's down she wakes up more, and angrier, than usual.  I hope it's just a tooth, but maybe she's getting ready to walk.  I hope not!

We got her the cutest Christmas dress - I can't wait to do her picture for our cards this year!

I know exactly what you mean. W would rather cruise than crawl.  His favorite thing to do lately is pull himself up in the bathtub, hold my hands, stand for a few seconds and then sit back down.  We do that over and over about 10 or so times.  He cracks me up!

And yes, W gets snotty when he's teething.  Eventhough the bottom two have popped through, he must be getting more.  He's been really snotty lately and a bit crabby at times.

I hope it wasn't only a few weeks ago.  DD just started pulling up in the past week and I don't want her on the move just yet!  Also because DS is prone to pushing her...a fall from a stand will hurt a bit more than a fall from a sit.

Try putting her to bed earlier,  DD was so messed up here with the time change.  I thought it would be easy for her to adjust, but it really hasn't been.  She still wants to zonk out by 6pm most evenings.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

DD is 9 months tomorrow and she is so mobile now.  We got a real tree this year and I'm hoping she doesn't topple it on top of herself.  She's quick and quite daring, she's so much more adventurous than her brother was.  She is cruising around and getting the hang of standing on her own.  I know she will be trying to take steps soon because she has no fear at all.  It's funny because she is always trying to do what her big brother does - and he's on the floor crawling to copy her. :)

I'm a bit worried about the tree too - we don't get ours until close to Christmas but that's coming up soon! I feel like I spend my days at the moment preventing DS from killing himself - more or less literally. DD wasn't like this either - she was much more cautious about things. Have I mentioned I really need to babyproof? We put up the top-of-stairs baby gate today - that's a relief for me.

Hi Everyone!  I have missed you all so much and I am not exaggerating!   Life has been so hectic and just unsettled since we moved to NYC.  We are now making the move from the UWS to Brooklyn.  Our apt now has literally had construction going on every day except sundays since we moved here the first of October.  Needless to say, not much sleep for the baby or mama.  I hate moving again but we are moving to a very mom/baby/family friendly place so I am super excited about that.  Sleep has been insane.  More like no sleep.  Malachi has been waking up every 30-45 min or less since 4.5 months.  It was honestly getting to the place where I felt a little crazy and like a bad mom because I couldn't figure out anything to help him sleep!  I tried everything!  Then, this past week, he just sttn, like he was a pro and this is what he does. I woke up several times to check on him and it is still weirding me out.  I love it though.  It was another lesson in the fact that kids will develop all on their own time table in their own way.  He just wasn't ready before now and who knows what next week will be like.  Right now, I am just enjoying solid blocks of sleep.  It really gave me a mental and emotional break that I needed.

Malachi is so fun!  He is cruising around everywhere and standing on his own for brief amounts of time.  He is so laid back that he will try something for a bit but if it isn't working, no big deal he will try again tomorrow lol.  He is really developing his language too.  Lots of sounds strung together sounding like a conversation.  I love it.  He does this the most when he is sitting looking at a book or "talking" to a stuffed animal.  I think it is so cute!  He definitely gets the concept of bye bye and gets sad when daddy leaves for work.  He is down tearing up the house soon after though so it is not a big deal.  Anyone else have a house that constantly looks like a toy bomb went off?  Malachi crawls around so fast and pulls apart or flings everything everywhere!  It is cute but very messy.

Hope everyone is doing well and we have been pretty quiet, would love to hear about everyone else's babes and see pics!
