My husband noticed a small lump on my 5 month-old daughter's face. It's on the left side of her face, just forward of her ear, about where the cheekbone meets just under her eye socket. It's relatively small (about the size of a nickel) and about as thick but rounded. She's happy, solely breastfed and hitting her milestones. The lump hasn't seemed to have grown since we first noticed it, about a week ago. When I touch it she doesn't seem to react as though painful.
She's had her DTaP (first 2), IPV & Hep B combo and hasn't been back to the pediatrician since then (3 months-old). I'm behind in her well-baby checks because I'm reconsidering her vaccinations after her reaction to her last series; the DTaP, IPV, Hep B combo. After reading posts under the vaccination forum, I'm reluctant to continue further until I do more research. I know that I'll be expected to explain why I don't want to continue with vax so I want to be armed with information before taking on the inevitable battle.
I searched this site and found posts about cysts but this doesn't seem to fit what I've seen as far as location and size. Has anyone had anything similar?
I've got 2 older boys, 7 and 4 and they've never had anything similar.
Any help is appreciated.
There are lymph nodes in front of the ear, maybe it's that?

Thanks for the link! Based on the diagram her lump is just above the preauricular node. The very bottom of the lump may just skirt it. I'll likely just call for an appointment next week. I was hoping to get a grasp on it before then and maybe see if there was something I can do for her at home.
