I'm not sure if this is the right forum to use, but I figure all of us have young babes, so we've all been postpartum recently.

DD is 2 months old and I've been spotting/bleeding off and on for weeks.  I only bled about 3 days, by the time I left the hospital it was mostly over.  Then at 10 days I bled heavily and it seems like every 2-3 weeks since I've been bleeding or spotting.  The heaviest was 2 weeks ago (about 7 weeks pp) and I bled lightly for 2 days.  I assumed it was my period even though I'm exclusively bf and cosleeping, babywearing, etc. and didn't expect to get it until I go back to work (like DS).

Anyway, now, 2 weeks later, I've started spotting again.

Is this normal? Anyone else have an experience with this?

I had the textbook experience, with bleeding tapering off in the first couple of weeks. My ds is 11 months now and I haven't had any bleeding or spotting since the postpartum period. He is nursing pretty frequently, so I'm not surprised that my cycle hasn't returned.

Are you tracking any other fertility signs?

I had the same thing you are describing. I think it finally ended at about 3 months pp? I asked my MW if there was something we could do, and she said that if I was really concerned, they could do an ultrasound to see if there was a piece of the placenta that hadn't come out (although she checked it after the birth and it looked complete). It finally went away on its own.

The mw said it could be normal or it could be my period beginning and is irregular due to hypo-thyroid ism. She offered to put me on bc to regulate it, but i prefer to do nfp . It's been about 10 or 12 days since the spotting started again and I am having fertile cm. Crazy to think my body thinks its time to go again! Turns out this is normal in my family. Lots of babies only a year or so apart. And my sister got her period back at 8 weeks, same as me baby wearing, cosleeping, breastfeeding.

With my first my period came back at six weeks and I was exclusively breast feeding and no soother use, feeding on demand.

With my second my period came back at THREE weeks. No joke. Again exclusively breast feeding, no soother use, feeding on demand and I even co slept with my second for the first 6 months!

Every body is just so different smile.gif
